 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. The man reportedly offered her the sum of N7 million so that she could allow him marry someone else he has fallen in love with. A Twitter user known as @dexterouz11, who is friend to the lady shared the story on the microblogging platform, said she is contemplating leaving the relationship even without collecting anything. As earlier announced by the Lagos State Government, traffic flow along Iyana-Oworonshoki inwards Adeniji Adele section of the Third Mainland Bridge has been diverted and the section closed to vehicular movement for repairs today, 9th January, 2024 for six weeks. Speaking at the diversion point, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi disclosed that 250 Traffic Management Personnel have been deployed to the axis to minimise inconvenience and ensure hitch-free movement for Motorists. In addition, the Commissioner stated that the Federal Ministry of Works, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Police Force are in collaboration to ensure safety, security and sanity during the repairs. The couple was arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday November 28, 2023, on 20-count charges  bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, money laundering, stealing, retention of stolen property and forgery to the tune of N2,757,188,000.00 (Two Billion,  Seven Hundred and Fifty Seven Million,  One Hundred and Eighty-eight Thousand Naira Only). They were arraigned alongside Food Commodity Processing Enterprise, Bonway Food Processing Company Limited, Samee Idowu Company Limited and Farmex Integrated Companies Limited, which all belong to Ruth Idowu. Nigerian singer shot dead in the US American-based Nigerian singer Osazuwa Agbonayinma, popularly known as Zuwa, who is also one part of the duo known as Roze, has been sh@t and killed in the United States of America. Although details about the circumstances surrounding his death are still sketchy, his father and former Nigerian lawmaker Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma confirmed to Channels Television that his late singer son who also has a master's degree in Architecture was killed by a shot in the back of the head on Sunday, January 7. The late singer formed the duo Roze with his brother Eghosa and released a couple of songs, including the critically acclaimed 'lleke' in 2020.

Unemployment Will Worsen This Year – UN The United Nations has stated that the global unemployment rate will increase slightly in 2024. International Labour Organization (ILO), a United Nations agency, announced this on Wednesday as it expressed concern over slow productivity, growing inequality, and inflation eroding disposable income. It highlighted that the economic recovery from the Covid-19 outbreak had slowed down, with persisting geopolitical tensions and persistent inflation prompting central banks to act aggressively. According to the ILO, global growth in 2023 will be slightly greater than predicted, and labour markets will show unexpected resilience. However, it said that real earnings fell in the majority of G20 countries as wage increases failed to keep pace with inflation. The global unemployment rate in 2022 was 5.3 per cent in 2018, with a slight improvement to 5.1 per cent last year. NESREA destroys over N9b worth of elephant tusks The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has destroyed 2.5 tons of confiscated elephant tusks worth about 9.9 billion naira in Abuja. The Agency collaborated with the Elephant Protection Initiative Foundation to carry out the crushing of tusks. The Minister of State for Environment, Dr Iziaq Salako said the destruction of the items was a resolve to protect the environment, conserve wildlife, and combat the illegal trade. “ln compliance with CITES Resolution Conf. 9.10 (Rev. CoP15) and Conf, 10.7 (Rev. Cop 15) on disposal of seized and confiscated live and dead wildlife specimens, Nigeria has opted for the outright destruction of these stockpiles through pulverisation of elephant tusks and ivories, The option of outright destruction is aimed at showing the entire world that Nigeria is zero tolerant to illegal wildlife trade at any level and to serve as a deterrent to the illicit wildlife traffickers

Teenager remanded for allegedly stabbing cleric to death in Kano Chief Magistrate, Binta Galadanci of Chief Magistrates Court  sitting in Kano, has remanded 18 year old Yusuf Haruna, in a Correctional facility for allegedly stabbing a cleric, 45 year old Sani Mohammed to death. The defendant, who lives in Tudun Nufawa Quarters Kano, is charged with culpable homicide. The Prosecutor, Fatima Ado Ahmad, told the court that, Musa Yunusa, of the same address reported the matter at Jakara Police Division Kano on December 31, 2023. She alleged that, at about 7pm, the defendant attacked and stabbed the 45-year-old Imam, with a sharp knife in his back to death.   “As a result, the victim sustained deep injury and was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a Doctor”.  An unidentified woman reportedly stole a newborn baby boy from the postnatal ward of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia on Tuesday, Jan. 9.   The mother of the hours-old baby, Mrs Wosilat Suleiman, told newsmen that she gave birth earlier that day through Caesarean Section. A relative of hers was with her after the birth of the child and needed to go home to pick some things so she introduced the new mum to a woman she just met at the hospital and begged the woman to help care for the new mum until she returned. The new mum said: “My relation that was looking after me introduced the strange woman she met in the ward to me before she went home to pick something. “She told me that the woman would take care of me and the baby before she returned from the house.   “My relation thought the woman had a patient at the ward and she trusted her to help us before she returned.   “The woman told me she wanted to bathe the baby and disappeared with him.’’    She appealed to relevant author

On Saturday the 6th of January 2024, an unidentified man entered Antonnette Supermarket located at 87B Olaniyi Street New Okooba Abuleegba Lagos State,pretending to buy some bottles of bitters and kept asking for things that will throw off the workers. At the end he did not buy anything,  is only intention was to come and steal, he stole one of the cashiers phone and unfortunately the cashier left his ATM card at the back of his phone cover, so this guy cleared the cashiers bank account.  The matter is reported to the police,  investigation is still ongoing and below is the video, which was captured by the security camera inside of the store.  Watch video below.
