 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

      The integrated mass transportation initiative of the Lagos State Government has recorded a huge progress with the successful completion of an elevated sea-crossing track of the Lagos Blue Line Rail Mass Transit project. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, led members of the State Executive Council to inspect the five-kilometre long Continuous Beam Bridge constructed from Iganmu to Marina, which is part of the fourth phase of the Blue Line Rail project and inaugurate the final phase of the project. The ceremony also marked the commencement of construction activities on the final phase of the Blue Line rail project, which Governor promised to complete next year. Sanwo-Olu said the completion of the sea-crossing track indicated his administration’s commitment towards completing the State-funded rail project started in 2009.        The EFCC Kano zonal office on December 17, 2019 secured the conviction of one Abdullahi Sani before Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court Kano, on a one-count charge bordering on under declaration. Abdullahi Sani, on or about the 31st December, 2018 at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State (at the currency declaratio n desk), with passport No. 09PC66281 while traveling with the total sum of $207,000 USD to China and about to board Ethiopian Air with Flight No. ET940 failed to declare the sum of $121,000 USD to the Nigeria Customs Service, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 2(3) Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 (as amended) and punishable under section 2(5) of the same Law.

        The EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on Tuesday 17th of December 2019 secured the convictions of two persons charged before a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Offences bordering on internet fraud and other fraud related Offences. The convicts are: Chibueze Meshak and Babatunde Muhammed Bashir. They were convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Court Presided over by Justice Sikiru Oyinloye on their separate charges.One more photo below.
