The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. SOUTH EAST EFCC SECURES 5 CONVICTIONS,RECOVERS OVER N5.8 MILLION.{PHOTOS}.

               The South East Zonal Office of the EFCC Enugu has recovered the sum of Five Hundred and Eighty Eight Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira only (N588,800,000) from the 2015 PDP Presidential campaign probe and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) bribery cases respectively being investigated by the Commission accross the south east zone of the country. This was disclosed on Tuesday August 15, 2017 by the Zonal Head of the Commission in the South East, Mr. Johnson Babalola while briefing newsmen on the activities of his office since January 2017 at the Commission’s office in Independence Layout, Enugu.More photos below.

                                      Justice Abdulaziz Anka of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi,Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of the sums of N664,475,246.6 and $137,680.11 allegedly linked to the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment,Clement Onubuogo,to the Federal Government.Onubuogo was alleged to have diverted the money from the Sure-P programme inaugurated by former the Sure-P programme inaugurated by former President Goodluck Jonathan.The court also ordered Onubuogo to forfeit a mansion located at Ikem Quarters,Issala-Azegba,Delta State and a hotel located at 19,Madue Nwafor Street,Off Achala Ibuzo Road,Delta State,which he allegedly acquired with funds diverted from the youth empowerment programme.The order followed an ex-parte application filed by the EFCC through its counsel,Rotimi Oyedepo.One more photo below.

             The Operation Zenda Special Crack Squad of the Benue State Command were engaged in a gun duel with Gang members of the wanted criminal aka "Ghana" on 11/08/2017 at about 0300hrs.   The gun battle ensued when the Crack Squad stormed a criminal hideout at a location on the border with Taraba State, following a reliable information that Terwase Akwaza aka Ghana and his gang members were holding a meeting. The bandits immediately opened fire on sighting the Police  team and in the ensuing gun duel, one Danladi Awudu aka Jerry who was hosting the meeting was hit by a bullet while others escaped with bullet wounds as there were traces of blood stains all over the place, however, he was confirmed dead on reaching the hospital.           A valedictory court session in honour of the first Bini indigene to become a Supreme Court Justice, Late Retired Justice Andrews Otutu Obaseki, held on Thursday at the High Court of Justice in Benin City, Edo State. The session attracted legal luminaries from across the country, who gathered to pay their last respects to the foremost jurist who participated in a total of 658 judgements while at the apex court.                    Two thousand students seeking transfer into public schools in Lagos State recently wrote screening tests for the 2017/2018 academic session admissions into JSS II & SS 1. The first-of-its-kind written examination is aimed at testing the applicants’ academic capabilities for admission into the respective classes of choice in State public schools. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi who led a monitoring team to assess the conduct of the test which took place simultaneously in all the Six Education Districts of the State, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise. While assuring the candidates that results of the exercise would be ready next week, he said parents of the successful applicants will be notified through short message (SMS) to the phone number supplied by them.                   In continuation of ongoing efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action in it's Area of Responsibility, troops of 8 Task Force Division have neutralized 10 terrorists in Maza village in Marte Local Government Areas of Borno State. The terrorists fell into an ambush laid by troops at about 9pm last night, as they attempted to sneak back into their swampy hideouts in the Lake Cha d. Items recovered from the terrorists include 10 bicycles, 11 carts containing food items and 2 cows. In a related development, troops also recovered 50 cows abandoned by fleeing terrorists, during clearance operations conducted in Danari and Mowo villages in Monguno Local Government Area.
