  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       The Niger, Kwara, Kogi Command of the Nigeria Customs has intercepted a Onitsha bound truck load of 200,000 live ammunition being brought into the country from Benin Republic. Two suspects who were identified as the driver, Bukari Dauda and the owner of the cartridges, Martin Anokwara were apprehended along the Wawa – Babana border in Niger state in a Iveco Truck with Lagos registration number  AKD 904 XE According to the Command Controller, Comptroller Benjamin Binga said that his men intercepted the truck which entered the country through the Babana border at about 3 a.m on Monday morning. He said that the truck was disguised to be carrying over 100 empty jerricans but on thorough checking, it was discovered that the truck had a false bottom which was used to hide the cartridges. “The checking was not from tip off, it was just out of sheer curiosity that my men decided to do a thorough checking and discovered that unlike other bottoms of trucks, this one had nuts

      Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Pharmacist (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf has assured participants at the ongoing Mindset Re-orientation and Employability Skills Training of direct employment either by potential employers or through self-employment. The Commissioner, who spoke at the Mindset Re-orientation and Employability Skills Programme organized for 500 unemployed youths in the State  on Tuesday , lamented the increasing rate of unemployment and described it as saddening and very disheartening. NSCDC ARRESTED A MAN WHO HAS BEEN RAPING HIS DAUGHTER FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS IN ONDO STATE.

     The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a man, identified as Adebisi Akinola, who has allegedly been raping his daughter for the past three years. The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Pedro Awili, on Tuesday in Akure, said the suspect had been abusing his daughter sexually since 2015 when the victim was 15 years old. The commandant said when the daughter could no longer bear  the incestuous relationship, she ran to the NSCDC for help.He said, “The daughter told us about the ugly incident and her statement helped us to nab the suspect, her father.“Akinola also confessed to the crime; he said he has been having sex with his daughter for three years.”The NSCDC boss said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the corps completed the investigation into the matter.He also warned parents, especially fathers, to desist from such act which he described as barbaric.         The World Bank and Taraba State Government on Tuesday commenced the training of 2,460 Basic Education Teachers to meet the psychosocial needs of school children in communities affected by crises. The training workshop with the theme; Support and Pedagogy for Basic Education Teachers in Conflict and Crisis Environments organized by the Taraba State Education Program Investment Project, with the support of the World Bank commenced on Tuesday in Gembu,  Bali and Wukari. The program which is scheduled to last a week would be concluded with the training of participants in Karim – Lamido and Jalingo centres. Declaring the workshop open in one of the Centres in Wukari, Governor Darius Ishaku represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Samson Ada urged the participants to take the programme seriously to improve the educational standard of the State. LAGOS OPENS COMPLETED PORTION OF BADAGRY EXPRESS WAY TO TRAFFIC.{PHOTOS}.

      Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday directed that the completed portions of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Eric Moore to Okokomaiko be opened up to traffic as soon as possible following the completion of works by the contractor. The Governor also directed the Public Works Corporation to intensify palliative works on the road from Okokomaiko to Badagry. The State’s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, in a statement, said the Governor was touched by the discomfort being experienced by the motoring public plying that axis and has vowed to continue to intensify all necessary steps to ameliorate their sufferings.
