 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria.   My Abductors Are Fulani, Says Zamfara Emir Who Spent A Month In Kidnappers’ Den The Emir of Bungudu in Zamfara State, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, has narrated how he was abducted by kidnappers along the Kaduna-Abuja road last year.  According to the monarch, his abductors were Fulani from Nigeria and some from neighbouring countries. Over the past few years, Fulani herdsmen have been accused of being involved in attacks leading to abductions, a development that has created ethnic tension but the Fulani have repeatedly denied masterminding such attacks.

  FG ASSURES MINERS OF ACCESS TO FUNDS The Hon. Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Arc Olamilekan Adegbite has reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to support Artisanal and Small Scale Miners to access funds that will increase their productivity. The Minister made this known over the weekend during his inspection of the ongoing construction of the Gemstones Market in Ojoo, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. He encouraged miners to come together as different Cooperative Groups to access funds set aside to support their activities. He said the Miners can access loan from 2million to N100million payable in 15years at 5% interest rate per annum. Additional 301 evacuees arrive Abuja  It was a scene of mixed feelings as another batch of 301 Evacuees mostly students from Sumy State University Budapest, Hungary arrived Abuja yesterday  The 301 Nigerians from Budapest Hungary arrived the country aboard Asman Air. The aircraft arrived at exactly 8.45pm and  Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi was on hand to receive them on behalf of the Federal Government. A mother was seen, shedding tears of joy as 4 of her children were amongst the evacuees.  A medical student of the Sumy State University, Deborah Ayoola is happy to arrived in peace as she had been very scared but thanked God she was able to pass through. Anambra State Government  Opens New Genexpert Machine And Laboratory For Treatment Of Tuberculosis In Ogbaru Anambra State Government through her Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Bruli Ulcer, TBLS, Control Programme has opened one of its stand alone Genexpert machine and laboratory at ONC Healthcare, Medical Diagnositic Centre and Pharmaceuticals, Iyiowa-Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area for the treatment of tuberculosis. The opening of the laboratory is facilitated by the National TBLS public-private mix model developed to ensure more effective treatment of tuberculosis in the country.  The Genexpert machine is an automated, cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) for simultaneous rapid tuberculosis diagnosis and rapid antibiotic sensitivity test that can identify Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) DNA and resistance to rifampicin (RIF). HERDSMEN ASK BENUE RESIDENTS TO VACATE ANCESTRAL HOMES OR FACE ATTACK. (PHOTO).

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have sent threat messages to residents in some communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State to vacate their ancestral homes or face serious attack. Some of the communities, Tse Ahentse, Iye and Udei, were attacked on Tuesday and Thursday leading to the death of 13 persons. It was learnt that the gunmen on Wednesday sent mercenaries and issued a threat to people living in Torkula Village in the same Guma LGA to vacate the community or face the consequences.   Torkula is the ancestral home of the late paramount ruler of Tiv nation, HRM Alfred Akawe Torkula. “Eyewitness account said the Fulani terrorists who had earlier issued a threat to the Tse Torkula community, asking them to leave the village or face dire consequences, came on motorcycles and without any herd of cattle,” the governor’s spokesperson said.

An American journalist was killed and another was wounded by Russian forces in the town of Irpin outside the capital of Kyiv on Sunday, Ukrainian police said. Brent Renaud, a 50-year-old filmmaker, was killed when Russian troops opened fire, according to Andriy Nebytov, the head of Kyiv's regional police force. Nebytov posted a graphic photo purportedly of Renaud's body on Facebook, as well as pictures of his American passport and media credentials issued by The New York Times. A spokeswoman for the Times said Renaud was "a talented filmmaker who had contributed to The New York Times over the years," most recently in 2015, but he "was not on assignment for any desk at The Times in Ukraine."

Church General Overseer arrested with drugs at Lagos airport ...As NDLEA seizes 40 parcels of Cocaine at MMIA; consignments of Heroin, Codeine, Tramadol at Apapa port, Kaduna, Yobe, Anambra Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested the General Overseer of Christ Living Hope Church, Rev. Ugochukwu Emmanuel Ekwem at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos while on his way to a three-week crusade in Nairobi, Kenya, with 54 sticks of drugs wrapped around his body. The youthful and popular preacher who has his church headquarters in Isuaniocha, Mgbakwu road, Awka, Awka North LGA, Anambra state and two other branches in Lagos and Abuja, was arrested on Monday 7th March, during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight to Nairobi via Addis Ababa.
