Elon Musk and SpaceX are lending support to Ukraine amid Russia’s assault on the embattled country. The announcement comes after Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov asked the SpaceX billionaire to help supply satellite-based communications to the country, as their internet access has been disrupted by the Russian invasion. “While you try to colonize Mars, Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space, Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand,” Fedorov wrote on Twitter. Hours later, Musk announced that the space company’s Starlink satellite internet service is available in Ukraine, with more terminals on the way.  “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” he wrote. “More terminals en route.” Earlier this week, Russia launched what was initially described by President Vladimir Putin as a “special military operation” in Ukraine. The Associated Press reports that 14 people were shot in total when someone opened fire on Saturday morning at around 3:15 a.m. It appears that the incident happened during a party when two people started arguing, ending in shots being fired, according to Capt. Dori Koren. The rest of the victims are in stable condition.. ”It’s a fairly large scene so it’s going so take some time to go through the entire scene,” Koren said. “We’re not really sure exactly what kind of weapon was used, or exactly if there were two shooters. We believe there was an exchange of gunfire, but we’re still looking into all of [the] information.” Once arriving at the scene, officers tended to the victims’ wounds with tourniquets and CPR, which Koren said, “definitely made a significance in this case.” At this point, no one has been arrested for the shooting. For Nigerians based in Ukraine trying to make their way out, another option has been offered by the Federal Government: they can also head for Hungary or Romania. Earlier through the efforts of the Foreign Affairs Minister, the Polish authorities had agreed to receive Nigerians fleeing from Ukraine. However, there were reports of huge crowds trying to enter Poland. This necessitated the option of Hungary and Romania. The Embassy also revealed that arrangements are being made for the transportation of Nigerians who present their valid passport and Ukrainian resident permit and “some money in Euros”. It also advised that affected Nigerians send their names, phone numbers, email addresses and a copy of their biodata page to the email embassy’s consular (secretary @nigerianembassy.hu) to enable facilitation of logistics arrangements.

Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i said yesterday, The Nation reports. He believes the nature of terrorism in the Northwest is far more vicious than the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast. The governor spoke at the weekly Ministerial Briefing organised by the Presidential Media Team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He said preliminary investigations revealed that some security operatives were working for terrorists. Speaking on Tinubu’s source of wealth, Jibrin, according to Guardian, said, “It has never been a source of controversy. We talk about the aids, source of wealth, Asiwaju’s spending. It has always been in the public space. “I find it very embarrassing that we ask about his age when it is public knowledge. It is there every year, he is 69 years old and getting to 70.” Continuing on his source of wealth, Jibrin said “For somebody who has been (head) hunted, right from his schooling days; by multi-national organisations, worked in Arthur Andersen, worked for Mobil and got into politics. This man didn’t go into politics as a poor man. “I can assure you that no Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a poor man. He went into politics as a senator of the federal republic. It is in public glare that this man has business in his DNA, both in exporting and the rest. All the people are fully aware that he was sponsoring pro-democracy singlehandedly. “Nobody has come out with a contrary opin

ASUU DEMANDS N1 TRILLION FROM FG TO SUSPEND ONGOING STRIKE. (PHOTO).

Ongoing industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, is seen by some as one of the reasons people patronise private universities, as lecturers there are not members of the union and would not go on strike. Meanwhile, another set of people not participating in the strike are lecturers in some state universities and those in universities not yet unionised. On their part, newly-established public universities are given observer status for some years before being admitted into ASUU. Nigeria has 49 federal universities, 54 owned by state governments and 109 private ones. Federal universities are currently on strike while some state-owned are not part of the strike, the reason being that some major demands by ASUU are peculiar only to federal universities.
