EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

  Tambuwal elected Senator 16 April 2023  Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has won the Sokoto South Senatorial election with 4,976 votes. Tambuwal, who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated the incumbent lawmaker and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ibrahim Danbaba Dambuwa. According to the returning officer, Professor Abubakar Bagudo, Tambuwal scored 100,860 votes while Danbaba polled 95,884 votes. Tambuwal is the third governor to secure victory among the 10 governors who contested senatorial seats. The governors who lost are Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Simon Lalong (Plateau) and Ben Ayade (Cross River). While Governors Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and Abubakar Bello (Niger) won the contest.

*UPDATE ON BANANA ISLAND BUILDING COLLAPSE*   *DAY 5*: Excavation has reached about 90% at the site of the Banana Island collapsed building.   Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) officials are at work on the site. The rubble is being excavated and taken to another area within the compound. At the site are also Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory. The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined. Unfortunately, we have recorded one fatality – so far. All those injured and taken to hospitals are doing well.  Birthday Tragedy: 4 killed, ‘multitude’ hurt as gunman opens fire in US during party 16 April 2023  Four people have been killed and multiple people injured during a shooting at a birthday party Saturday night in Dadeville, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said. The shooting happened at the birthday party around 10:30 p.m., Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said. There was no initial confirmation about what led to the shooting. It was not immediately known if a suspect was in custody. “There were four lives tragically lost in this incident and there’s been a multitude of injuries,” Burkett said during a news conference Sunday morning. The shootings rocked the small city of 3,200. Dadeville Chief Jonathan L. LP crisis deepens as 2 governorship candidates emerge in Imo 16 April 2023    The crisis rocking the Labour Party(LP) in Imo State has taken another dimension as the party’s parallel primary governorship elections on Saturday and Sunday have produced 2 governorship candidates, senator Athan Achonu and Ikechukwu Ukaegbu respectively. How domestic staff plotted Tiwa Savage’s kidnap — Police 15 April 2023  The Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi in Lagos, says it has arrested some persons in connection with the alleged attempt to kidnap Tiwa Savage. The department’s spokesperson, CSP Oluniyi Ogundeyi, confirmed this to newsmen on Saturday in Lagos. Reports claimed that the news of the attempt to kidnap the musician broke out on Friday through social media. The reports revealed that the musician’s private security vigilance and the Nigerian police saved her from the suspects. It gathered that the failed plot was allegedly planned by Savage’s new domestic staff, who had been entrusted with vital information about her. Sources said that the domestic staff had been trailing the singer as she left her home and shared the information with other members of the alleged kidnapping gang. ”Yes, we have some suspects, they are in our custody. They are about four,” the spokesperson said.

Dino Wins Kogi PDP Governorship Primary April 16, 20230 Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries in Kogi State. Dino was declared winner by the returning officer on Sunday. He scored 313 votes to defeat Idoko Ilonah who had 124 votes. Others, Awoniyi Sunday had 77 votes while Musa Wada had 56 votes The former lawmaker will be up against Usman Ododo, the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election

 FEEDBACK ON VIDEO OF CLERIC'S ATTACK ON POLICE On Saturday 4th February, 2023, while on stop and search duty along  Ibadan Express Road, Oyo State, one Ahmed Atidade 'm' 28YRS assaulted and threatened to kill the Police Officers who stopped his vehicle for routine checks and questioning. He was subsequently arrested and charged to Court on Thursday 9th February, 2023.  We shall not allow any individual to undermine and ridicule our officers and, by extension, our policing system in Nigeria. We have a lot of responsibilities as citizens of this country to respect our law enforcement officers who work day and night to make ensure the security of our nation. 'Yul Edochie Found Out Through DNA Test That He's Not The Father Of Judy Austin's Son' — Kemi Olunloyo Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has said that Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie conducted a DNA test on his child with Judy Austin. According to her, Edochie found out when the test results came back that the boy, Star Dike Munachimso Edochie is not his child. She wrote; “I just heard that DNA tests revealed that Judy Austin’s son was not fathered by Yul Edochie”   Initially, he deleted all Instagram photos of his second wife and actress Judy Austin and their alleged son before completely deleting all posts.  As if that were not enough;  Reports have been rife on social media that the movie star allegedly conducted a DNA test and found out that the son he thought he had with Judy Austin does not biologically belong to him.  Nigerian investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo underpinned the shocking revelation on Daddy Freeze's show.

Man Convicted for Impersonation in Enugu The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Enugu Zonal Command on Friday, April 14, 2023, secured the conviction of one Ugwu Onyekachi Sunday before Justice U.J Mogbo of the Enugu State High Court, Enugu on a one count charge bordering on fraudulent personation. He was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment with the option of three months community service, having pleaded guilty to the one count charge proffered against him. The court further ordered the forfeiture of his mobile phone to the state government.

Ex-lawmaker and his brother shot dead live on TV while speaking with journalists 16 April 2023  A former Indian politician convicted of kidnapping has been shot dead live on TV along with his brother. Atiq Ahmed, who was under police escort facing murder and assault charges, was talking to journalists when a gun was pulled close to his head. After the shots were fired, three man who had been posing as journalists quickly surrendered and were taken into custody, local media reported. Ahmed's teenage son was shot dead by police days earlier. Ahmed had previously claimed there was a threat to his own life from the police. Video showed Ahmed and his brother, Ashraf, speaking to journalists on the way to a medical check-up at a nearby hospital seconds before they were both shot. NDLEA intercepts drug consignments in winter jackets, body lotion at Lagos airport ...Arrests Lekki businessman over illicit cargo from US; pregnant woman, cripple in Edo; female undergraduate in Ogun Consignments of Tramadol, Rohypnol, Ecstasy (Designer drug) and Cannabis concealed in winter jackets and bottles of body cream have been intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos. The psychoactive substances were recovered at the new terminal of the airport on Friday 14th April following the arrest of a passenger, Joshia Sunday who was traveling on a Qatar Airline flight via Doha to Oman, Middle East.  A thorough search of the suspects two black bags led to the discovery of 4.80 kilograms of cannabis concealed in three winter jackets and various quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol, Ecstasy (Designer drug) hidden in bottles of body lotion.
