The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. FG EMBARKS ON REGISTRATION OF UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE IN BENUE 22nd April, 2023   The federal government has commenced the registration of unemployed persons in the 23 local government areas of Benue State. Our correspondent reports that the federal government through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in the state also distributed materials to its local government area liaison officers for the exercise. The State Co-ordinator of NDE, Akile Patrick, who flagged off the exercise in Makurdi, told the liaison officers to go to their areas and register all unemployed persons, whether old or young. He said the federal government understood the plight of people who are unemployed and has positive plans for their well-being, therefore, it had directed the NDE to register all such persons in the state.

COUNCIL APPROVES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF BUREAU OF MISSING PERSONS Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the creation of a Bureau for Missing Persons in the Ministry of Justice. The establishment of the Bureau is part of the interim recommendation earlier made by the Truth, Justice and Peace Commission (TJPC) in its Inception Report earlier submitted to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo (CFR), Governor of Anambra State, on the 17th of February 2023. Gunmen Kill 10 Family Members In South Africa April 21, 20230 Two gunmen attacked a home in South Africa and shot 10 members of the same family to death. The oldest victim of the mass shooting was 65-year-old while the youngest was a 13-year-old teenager. Jay Naicker, police spokesperson in South Africa said the victims were shot dead in their home at Pietermaritzburg in the eastern KwaZulu-Natal province. Police launch manhunt for killers of 5 officers, couple in Imo 22 April 2023  The Police Command in Imo has begun manhunt for the killers of five police officers and a couple at Okpala, in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of the state on Friday morning. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident, said the command’s Tactical and Operational Teams had been deployed to the area. Okoye, who noted that the command was on the trail of the suspects, said security had been beefed up in the area to increase public confidence. “The command has deployed tactical and operational teams to the area for constant patrol and in search of those behind this dastardly act. “We are closing in on them,” he added. Newly-elected House of Reps Member dies in Abuja 22 April 2023  A newly-elected member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Ismaila Yushau Maihanci, has died. Maihanci, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State, died early this Saturday morning, April 22, 2023, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. His janaza (funeral prayer) is scheduled to hold at the National Mosque in Abuja after today’s noon prayers. Six policemen arrested for brutalising suspects 22 April 2023  Imo State Police Command has arrested six of its men, for what it called “discreditable unprofessional conduct, improper dressing, incivility to and assaulting two suspects”. The arrest of the erring policemen followed a viral video recording of the brutalization of two youngsters, who are believed to be brothers and students of Imo State University, Owerri. Foreign nationals to be evacuated from Sudan — Army 22 April 2023  Diplomats and nationals from the UK, US, France and China are to be evacuated from Sudan by air as fighting there continues, a statement from the Sudanese army says. Army chief Fattah al-Burhan agreed to facilitate and secure their evacuation “in the coming hours”, it said. He is locked in a bitter power struggle with the leader of a rival paramilitary faction, the Rapid Support Forces.
