  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu signs female inheritance bill into law  A female inheritance bill which would see Abia women inherit and own properties in their father’s family, has been signed into law by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. Ikpeazu who congratulated women over the bill which now has a law citation of ‘The Female Persons Right of Inheritance of Property Law 2022’, said his administration would continue to support women. Also appreciating the state assembly for the courage to pass the bill, the Governor promised that his administration would lean on the side of reason and common sense in the discharge of its obligations to residents of the state.  Ikpeazu who also described the bill as historic, added that women would no longer be treated as second-class citizens even in their families.

KDSG Security Update: Wednesday 30th November 2022.  Troops rescue three victims, destroy camps in Chikun/Kachia/Kajuru Forests  - Remains of two victims recovered.  Troops of Operation Forest Sanity continued fighting patrols in Chikun/Kachia/Kajuru LGAs, with three kidnapped victims rescued and several bandit camps destroyed.  Feedback to the Kaduna State Government revealed that the troops engagaed bandits around Kwanti, Chikun LGA. As the bandits fled into the forest, they left behind four motorcycles recovered by the troops. The troops burned down the dozens of camps in sight.  Upon scouring the area, the troops found two male kidnapped victims, identified as Muntaka Abubakar and Nwabueze John. Also discovered were the corpses of two unidentified female victims who had been killed by the bandits.  The corpses were evacuated while the rescued victims were reunited with their families, after first aid was administered on one of them who was carrying an injury.  Another kidnapped vic

The directive was sequel to large scale diversion of government assets by top officials of the immediate past administration, Several official vehicles are missing while official records indicated that two third of former state officials left with fleet of car in their office.  Most Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were stripped of operational assets like vehicles, computers and even residential fittings. Singer Slami Ifeanyi Shot Dead In Anambra Singer and songwriter Slami Ifeanyi has been shot dead in Awka the capital City of Anambra State. Ifeanyi, a former ‘Mr Anambra Universe’, was reportedly shot dead on Sunday by gunmen in his home state. According to reports, the 31-year-old model was driving alone in his newly acquired Lexus 330 when he was attacked and killed at Umubele, Awka area of the capital. The lifeless body of the deceased could be seen hanging from the car in a pool of his blood in a video on the internet on Tuesday. Reacting to the brutal killing of Ifeanyi, one Itz Macarthy, a digital director, said it was shocking and painful. ACTDA Boss Claims ‘Not in Town’ As Agency Destroys Goods Worth Over ₦10m in Awka It was a scene of bewilderment at Awka, Anambra State capital, as goods worth over 10 million naira were destroyed by the officials of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (popularly known as ACTDA), which is an agency of the Anambra State Government under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. 27-year-old Yahoo boy arrested for allegedly beating his undergraduate girlfriend to d€ath in Ogun A 27-year-old suspected Yahoo boy, Obeta John, was on Tuesday, November 29th, arrested by men of Ogun state Police Command for allegedly k!lling his girlfriend, one Idowu Buhari, an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway polytechnic Saapade. Busted: Chinedu Ike, 25, was rescued from jungle justice by RRS Patrol team sometimes in September, 2022 in Iyana Oworo over the theft of a mobile phone.  He was beaten to a coma by eyewitnesses before he was rushed to the hospital by the team. He was discharged after some days.  On Monday, adopting his usual style, he sneaked into a parked car to steal the driver’s mobile phone in Iyana Oworo. He was arrested by RRS officers when those who knew Chinedu hinted the driver to check his phone. Our officers recovered the driver’s Infinix Note 10 from Chinedu’s bag. He has been sentenced. ICPC Arraigns Polytechnic Lecturer for Allegedly Misappropriating N4.1M The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Kaduna State office, has arraigned one Mr. Sahabi Dahiru Doka, before Justice Kabiru Dabo of Kaduna State High Court, Zaria, Kaduna State, for allegedly misappropriating the sum of N4,103,214.90 (Four Million, One Hundred and Three Thousand, Two Hundred and Fourteen Naira, Ninety Kobo). Doka, who allegedly received the sum as salaries from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria as a Lecturer, while being on secondment as Secretary to Kudan Local Government Council of Kaduna State, has been charged on two counts for offences punishable under Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and Section 293 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017; and Punishable under Section 294 of the same law.

We are not introducing N5,000 note — CBN The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has no plan to introduce N5,000 denominated bank note as being speculated by some sections of the society. Ahmed Umar, the Director, Currency Operations of CBN clarified this at a three-day workshop organised by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), for members of the Financial Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) and Business Editors. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the workshop, which opened on Monday in Port Harcourt, has as its theme: “Building Depositors Confidence Amidst Emerging Issues and Challenges in the Banking Industry.” Umar who spoke on the topic, “Redesign of the Naira: Benefits to the financial system and the Nigerian economy”, said the apex bank was not carrying out note restructuring. “We are not introducing any new note because there was noise, some people have seen one N5,000 note that we don’t know about,” he said. Court Sends APC Chairman To Jail Over Illegal Possession Of PVCs A Kano Magistrate court presided over by Faroukh Ibrahim Umar has sentenced the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yautar ward, Aminu Ali, to two years imprisonment for unlawful possession of 367 permanent voters cards (PVCs) bearing different names, according to Daily Trust report. Ali was in October arrested for collecting PVCs from different people in Gabasawa Local Government Area of the state and that he conspired with some members of his party to commit the offence. The court sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the two-count charge, which contravened section 22 (a) of the Electoral Act, 2022 as amended. However, the magistrate gave the convict an option of N500,000 fine for the first offence.
