 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. The hero principal from Perry, Iowa passed away yesterday. He selflessly confronted an armed assailant and lost his life 10 days after his heroic act.  On the morning of January 4th, students and teachers alike were starting their first day back after their Christmas break at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa. As the students and faculty were milling into the hallways trying to get back into the swing of things a 17-year-old with bad intentions was about to shock the small Iowa community to its core. Around 7:27 a.m., 17-year-old Dylan Butler began shooting while students were being served breakfast. He was armed with a pump shotgun a handgun as well as an improvised explosive device. EFCC Arrests Ex-Minister, Charles Ugwuh, One Other for Alleged N3.6bn Fraud   Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Charles Chukwuemeka Ugwuh, for an alleged conspiracy and fraud to the tune of N3.6bn.   Ugwuh was arrested alongside Chief Geoffrey Ekenma on January 11, 2024 at No.2, Musa Yar Adua way, New Owerri, Imo State, following a petition to the Commission from a new generation bank on the alleged fraud perpetrated through a company, Ebony Agro Industries Ltd., linked to the ex-Minister.   Investigations revealed that Ugwuh and Ekenma, Managing Director, Ebony Agro Industries Ltd., allegedly obtained a loan facility from the bank for the purchase and production of polished rice.   However, the suspect, according to the petitioner, failed to meet up his obligations to the bank and all efforts to get him to repay the loan facility proved abortive.   The suspects would be

Adeleke denies inheriting Osun Job Centre from predecessor The Osun State Government has denied inheriting any entity known as Osun Job Centre from the administration of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The state government also added that it had not withheld salaries of civil servants since it came into office on November 27, 2022. It was alleged to have shut down the Osun Job Centre and also withheld the 12 months salaries of staff members. Supreme Court reserves judgment in Rivers governorship appeal The Supreme Court on Monday reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers March 18, 2023 governorship election, Patrick Tonye-Cole, against the declaration of Siminalayi Fubara of People Democratic Party, PDP as the winner of the poll. A five-member panel headed by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun reserved judgment on the appeal after all parties in the suit adopted their briefs of arguments. Suspected cable thieves arrested by vigilantes in Adamawa Three suspected electricity cable thieves have been arrested by vigilantes in Adamawa State. The suspects were alleged to have stolen the cables at Sabore Guga, a community along the MayoBelwa – Jada road in the southern part of the state. The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Kefas, 45, Jonah Linus, 39, and Mustapha Aliyu, 38. Another suspect whose name was given as Biri Modibbo is said to be currently at large. The cables were identified as those deployed by the Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC. The YEDC, which disclosed the arrests, said it was in line with efforts to check the stealing of the company’s assets.  Inferno Claims Family Of Seven In Kano A late night fire, has led to the death of seven family members, while one sustained various degree of injuries at Tudun wada quarters, Nasarawa local government area, Kano.  Executive Secretary, Kano state emergency management agency (SEMA),Alhaji Isiyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi confirmed the incident to Radio Nigeria in Kano. 23-year-old girl who left home since November 2023, declared missing by her family  A young lady identified as Mercy Ogar, from Gabu, Yala local government in Cross River State has been declared missing by her family. According to her mum, Felicia Ogar, Mercy lived in Festac, Lagos state with a friend, but had decided to relocate to Abuja to stay with her (the mother). The 23-year-old left home on November 16, 2023, after telling her friend that she was travelling to Abuja. However, she hasn't been seen or heard from since then.  Efforts to contact Mercy has been futile as both her phone numbers have been unreachable.
