  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has constituted a Committee of serving and retired senior officers to conduct a safety audit of all Nigerian Air Force(NAF) operational and engineering units. The Committee is to, among other terms of reference, analyse safety reports from operational and engineering units, conduct safety evaluation of NAF units and recommend measures to enhance safety of operations in the units. The Committee is also to interact with unit operational and technical personnel for views, observations and contributions on safety measures. Chaired by Air Vice Marshal Abraham Adole, the Deputy Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, the Committee is to submit its report not later than 18 June 2021. Troops rescue two abducted victims in Jema'a local government area. -Herders and cattle rescued from bandit attack -One armed robber arrested Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) reported the rescue of two victims who were abducted by armed bandits along Gidan Waya-Godogodo-Jagindi road in Jema'a local government area. The Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, was briefed at the Headquarters of Sector 7, Operation Safe Haven, Kafanchan, by the Sector Commander, Col. DC Nwakonobi while on an routine visit to military formations across the Southern Kaduna general area on Monday. According to the briefing, four passengers were abducted from a vehicle plying the route. On receiving a distress call, a patrol team from OPSH pursued the bandits and rescued the two victims.   This afternoon, we inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the 21km Airport-Ajia-New Ife Express Road with a spur to Amuloko. We'll be meeting with FAAN to resolve all issues relating to the portion of the road around the airport, to ensure that the road is completed on schedule. We also visited Ajia Maternity Centre to inspect the ongoing upgrade. I expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of the work. However, we were assured that there would be improvements going forward.
