A 41-year-old man identified as David Ubaha on Monday, February 19, staged a lone protest in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State over the harsh economic situation in Nigeria. The father of two, who tucked a placard in the front and back of his shirt with a list of problems and solutions, said that the situation has become unbearable and that most people can no longer cope. Ubaha, a native of Itu Local Government Area of the state, listed Nigeria’s problems, including depreciation of the naira, unbearable hardship, ravaging insecurity, unplanned subsidy removal, uncontrolled inflation. The solution on the placard reads; start local production, diversify the economy, invest in mechanical farming, revamp dying industries, stop unnecessary borrowing, equip hospitals, and stop seeking medical attention abroad, among others.
