 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. Nigerian student st*bbed to d£ath during a fight in Canada Police in Toronto have identified a 28-year-old student from Nigeria as the victim who was fatally st*bbed during a fight in a Scarborough plaza over the weekend. The victim, identified as Ifeanyichukwu Oseke, was rushed to the hospital, but Banglid said he succumbed to his injuries on the way there. The incident is now being treated as a homicide. Police said the fight broke out on Sunday, June, 25,  shortly after 7 p.m., in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Brimley Road. Toronto Police Service Duty Inspector Jeff Banglid told reporters at the scene that two people were fighting in the plaza, which left one with serious injuries. Police said the male suspect was last seen getting inside of a dark-coloured sedan, heading south on Brimley Road. According to her manager, the global popstar developed a serious bacterial infection, which led to "a several day stay in ICU". OJERINDE: ICPC SET TO APPEAL RULING  The Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja on the civil rights claim filed by the former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde. The court had fined the Commission N1 million damages and cost of N200,000 respectively for the arrest and detention of Prof Dibu Ojerinde over alleged corrupt practices. The Commission intends to appeal the ruling of the court. The anti-corruption agency had a valid warrant issued by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court dated 6th December, 2022.

This product was discovered following a consumer complaint received and investigated by the post-marketing surveillance unit of the Agency. On investigation, at the point of purchase and supplier’s address, over five (5) crates of the implicated batch of Sprite 50cl glass bottles were discovered to be contaminated with particles. The affected batch of the unwholesome product has been sampled for laboratory analysis in the NAFDAC laboratory and the Agency has directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to carry out surveillance and mop up the implicated batch of the unwholesome product. UN sounds alarm on northeast Nigeria 28th Jun 2023  The United Nations said Wednesday it was “ringing the alarm” on the humanitarian situation in conflict-wracked northeast Nigeria, with surging numbers of people needing help. A bloody conflict has been raging for 14 years between the army and jihadist groups, including Boko Haram. More than 40,000 people have been killed and two million more displaced, creating one of the gravest humanitarian crises of the 21st century. “We must act fast to prevent the situation in the northeast of Nigeria from becoming even more catastrophic,” Matthias Schmale, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria, told a press conference in Geneva.
