 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Attorneys for former President Donald Trump argue that an attempt to bar him from the 2024 ballot under a rarely used “insurrection” clause of the Constitution should be dismissed as a violation of his freedom of speech. The lawyers made the argument in a filing posted Monday by a Colorado court in one of the most significant of a series of challenges to Trump's candidacy under the Civil War-era clause in the 14th Amendment. Veteran Nollywood actor, Pa Yemi Lawrence Adeyemi professionally known as Suara has been lost to the cold hands of death.  The family of the veteran actor in an official statement released on Monday said that Suara died on Sunday, September 25th 2023. They however did not disclose the source of his death. Suara was a name that stuck since his role in Super Story series, Oh Father!  FG declares Wednesday Public Holiday The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023 as public holiday in commemoration of Eil-ul- Maulid celebration which signifies the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). In a statement which the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, issued on his behalf, Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslims for witnessing this year’s occasion. He admonished them to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him ) exemplified. ‘I will resurrect Mohbad if allowed to see body’ – cleric claims in viral video A self-proclaimed cleric named Oba Ewulomi has claimed that he possesses the ability to bring the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, back to life. In a recently shared Facebook video, Ewulomi, who spoke in English and Yoruba, declared that he holds the power to resurrect Mohbad. His words, “Promise Imole Mohbad can still live again. Whether you have faith or not, I am not concerned. “But that boy can wake up again. Let me see the corpse of the boy. Give me access to the boy’s corpse. Presenting the items materials on behalf of the state government at the headquarters of the service in Ilorin, secretary to  Kwara State Government,  Alhaji Mahe AbdulKadir said the gesture was part of the government's responssibilities to ensure wellbeing of inmates in the state. NNPCL Signs MOU To Streamline Contracting Process Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC Ltd.) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Oil Companies (IOCs) to reduce the contracting cycle to a maximum of 180 working days. The contract lifecycle is the process by which a contract is authored, reviewed, sent for signature, executed, and potentially renewed. This, according to the corporation, is outlined in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). Ministry To Establish Mobile Court For Gender-Based Violence Ministry of Women Affairs will introduce mobile courts to expedite the delivery of justice in addressing gender-based issues. The Minister in charge, Uju Kenedy Ohanenye, told newsmen in Abuja that the courts would be set up in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, civil society organisations, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and other relevant stakeholders. “The Mobile Courts will work closely with the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Minister of Justice, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and security agencies to develop innovative strategies for enforcing the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, combating sexual and gender-based violence, and addressing female genital mutilation,” she said. Tribunal affirms Sanwo-Olu’s election The Lagos State governorship election petition tribunal, has affirmed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s election. Justice Mikhail Abdullah affirmed Sanwo-Olu’s victory while dismissing the petitions of governorship candidates of the Labour Party, LP, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, GRV, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olajide Adediran. Gunmen kidnap Benue Commissioner Gunmen yet-to-be identified have abducted Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Abo DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday night at about 10pm when the armed men invaded the Commissioner’s residence in Zaki-Biam, headquarters of Ukum Local Government Area of the state. According to an eye-witness, the gunmen who invaded the area on four motorcycles, forcefully entered the commissioner’s house shooting sporadically. The assailants ordered everyone in the house, including the Commissioner‘s wife and children to lie face down, after which they whisked him away to an unknown destination.

The 26-year-old defendant, Chisom Nwogbo, who claims to be a makeup artist, is facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft, accusations she denies. Flood Overruns Delta Riverine Communities Five riverine communities in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State including Torukubuagbene, Awanba, Koropigbene, Itagbene, Asigborodo and adjourning clans, have all been overrun by torrential water. The councillor representing Ogbinbiri Ward 18 in Asigborodo Community, Kenren Pere, while disclosing this to journalists in Warri on Monday, stated that the incident began over a week ago, noting that the situation worsened on Friday. "Though rain has been falling before, but we have not had it so bad like this", he stated. According to him, residents can no longer go about their normal daily activities to feed, "so there is hunger in the affected communities". INEC To Conduct Mock Accreditation In Kogi, Imo, Bayelsa The Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC says it will conduct a mock accreditation in the three States where Governorship elections will take place using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and upload of polling units results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) .  A statement signed by the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee Mr Sam Olumekun says the test run will take place simultaneously in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa States on Saturday 14th of next month from 8.30am to 2.30pm.
