Nigeria: A Broken Nation In Need Of Mending By Matthews Otalike in Sokoto  17th April, 2022 Nigeria has been terribly battered and buffeted by men and women from the dark womb of time that Nigerians can no longer recognize their country and it is no long necessary to ask how Nigerians got to where they are. This was part of the Easter Message of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Most Reverend Matthew Hassan delivered in a homily at the Easter Vigil Eucharistic celebration at the Holy Family Catholic Cathedral, Sokoto. He said: “The real challenge is how to find the slippery rungs on the ladder of ascent so we can climb out. Yet, we ask, ascend to where? For us as Christians, ascent is to the loving embrace of the resurrected Christ who is Lord of history.  “One would be tempted to ask, what is there to say about our tragic situation today that has not been said? Who is there to speak that has not spoken? Like the friends of Job, we stare at an imponderable tragedy as the nation unravels f

It’s an Easter ambush and anything done in Easter is spiritual. So I thank you people for meeting us here and saying what is in your mind. Make no mistake about it. It is us in the southern part of Nigeria that the presidency is due for. It’s also true, a truism that of all the zone in the Southern Nigeria that is only the South East zone that

I DO NOT SEE THE MORAL JUSTIFICATION FOR GOVERNOR WIKE'S CRITICISM OF THE DECISION OF GOVT TO PARDON GOVERNORS DARIYE AND NYAME.(PHOTO).#PRESS RELEASE

I do not see the moral justification for Governor Wike’s criticism of the decision of the government to pardon Governors Dariye and Nyame at a meeting to which he was duly invited but did not attend.  The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo who joined the Council of State meeting virtually switched off her camera so it was difficult to determine whether she sat behind the dark screen or just walked away after first joining.  If the Governor felt so strongly about the pardons, the right was for him or his representative to sit through the meeting and assert views. This did not do. A press release after the meeting is bolekaja politics.

QUEEN ELIZABETH'S EASTER MESSAGE. (PHOTOS).

A message from HRH The Prince of Wales on Easter Sunday 2022: This year I had the enormous privilege of representing Her Majesty The Queen at the Service for Maundy Thursday, when Christians remember that humility and sacrifice are at the heart of our faith. At that service, which he attended with my mother so many times over the years, my father, The Duke of Edinburgh, always used to read the Gospel which tells how on the night of the Last Supper, Jesus knelt before his disciples and washed their travel-weary feet. Our Lord told them that he was doing this to give them an example of how to look after and to serve one another. It is a message they never forgot, and it is as challenging today as it was then. Today, millions of people find themselves displaced, wearied by their journey from troubled places, wounded by the past, fearful of the future – and in need of a welcome, of rest, and of kindness. Over the past years, I have found myself heartbroken at the sufferings of the innocent
