 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. This signifies the return of peace in the state , as Borno has a long history of cultural heritage and hospitality. Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, Senator representing Borno Central, Kashim Shettima, and the Inspector General of Police, Baba Alkali, led top government officials and other muslim faithful to perform two Rak'at Eid Prayers in Maiduguri on Tuesday.  The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, Senator representing Southern Borno, Mohammed Ali Ndume, Chief Whip of the House of Representative, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan and the State APC Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, were among dignitaries that attended the eid prayer.  The eid prayer held at Ramat Square, a large space with capacity for thousands of persons was led by Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh.  In his sermon, Imam Shettima Ibn Saleh urged Muslim faithful to pray for peace to return to the state and the country at large. In a statement signed by Comrade Emma Powerful, the Publicity Secretary of the group, IPOB said "we wish to absolve Gov. Willie Obiano from any involvement in the act contrary to our earlier statement based on preliminary investigation. Gov. Willie Obiano was found to be innocent after our intelligence unit conducted further investigations on him. PRESS RELEASE  ALPHA JET AIRCRAFT CRASHES IN ZAMFARA STATE, PILOT RESCUED On 18 July 2021, at about 12.45 pm, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft, returning from a successful air interdiction mission between the boundaries of Zamfara and Kaduna State, came under intense enemy fire which led to its crash in Zamfara State. Luckily, the gallant pilot of the aircraft, Flight Lieutenant Abayomi Dairo, successfully ejected from the aircraft. Using his survival instincts, the pilot, who came under intense ground fire from the bandits, was able to evade them and sought refuge in nearby settlements awaiting sunset. Using the cover of darkness and his phone set for navigation, Flight Lieutenant Dairo was able to elude several bandits’ strongholds and maneuvered his way to a Nigerian Army Unit, where he was finally rescued. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, July 19, 2021 ruled that a former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has a case to answer in the N29 billion fraud charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Nyako is being prosecuted by the EFCC alongside his son, Abdul-Aziz, two companies, Sebore Farms and Extension Ltd and Pagado Fortunes Ltd, as well as Zulkifik Abba, Abubakar Aliyu, Blue Opal Ltd, Tower Assets Management Ltd, and Crust Energy Ltd on  37-count charges of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office, and money laundering. The Commission closed its case after it had called 21 witnesses, but rather than open their defence, the defendants opted for a no-case submission on the ground that the prosecution had failed to link them to the alleged offences. Justice Umaru Fadawu of the Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri, on July 16, 2021 sentenced a serial fraudster, Alen Abel to fifteen years imprisonment for obtaining N4, 065, 000.00 (Four Million, Sixty-five Thousand Naira), under false pretence.
