  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   Mrs. Nzube-Obi Obiechina, the teacher who said that she lost her two-month pregnancy in 2017 after allegedly being tortured and detained for 22 days by the police, is reportedly the sister of alleged kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans. Appearing before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters on October 31, the teacher who responded to a question by Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) counsel Mr. Nosa Uhumwamgho disclosed that she has neither seen nor been in touch with her brother in ages, before his arrest on June 10, 2017. She also accused the police of unlawfully arresting, assaulting and detaining her and her husband without trial. The Nation reported that Mrs. Obiechina and her husband Ogechukwu Obiechina are now seeking the enforcement of the N2million awarded them by the Federal High Court in Lagos against the police, following their ordeal.

  Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Reports of the governor planning to defect to the ruling party have been rife online for some days. The governor today put paid to all the rumors as he formally announced his defection. At a press conference in Abakaliki, the state capital, Governor Umahi confirmed he has joined the ruling party. He hinged his defection on what he described on the ''injustice” done to the south-east by the PDP since 1998. “Let me clear the air and state that I never sort for the ticket of PDP Presidency and I will not. Whoever that said that I moved to APC because they refused to zone the ticket to me is being very mischievous. Because even if PDP promises me, an individual a presidential ticket, how does it work? Femi Gbajabiamila, has assured that the Green Chamber is determined to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) within the next six months. Speaking when he played host to a delegation of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) under the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gbajabiamila said the House would ensure that it passes a PIB that would be satisfactory to all. "On the PIB, there are two things that the House would want to do.   A young lady has reportedly been found dead after pleas to help find her were shared online. Ijeoma Neke, a makeup artist with Instagram handle @wake_n_makeup, was last seen on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, after she left home for a job. According to reports, she requsted to know the venue where she was to do the job but was simply instructed to meet the prospective client at a bus stop. After, the "client" picked her up and was taking her to the venue, she reportedly sensed something was amiss and texted the client's number to her brother. That was the last she was heard from. When she didn't return home after days, people took to Twitter to raise alarm and beg for help in finding her. Unfortunately, one day after the missing person's posts began circulating, she was reportedly found dead around Maryland, Enugu.
