OAP Dotun's estranged wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo, risks jail term as she is charged with contempt of court for denying her children's father access to them.  Taiwo Oyebanjo, the ex-wife of OAP Dotun Kayode and younger sister of singer Dapo "D'Banj" Oyebanjo, has been found guilty of contempt of court and may be committed to prison, in a divorce suit she filed in Abuja.   A high court sitting in Dukpa, Abuja, on Monday, Oct. 23, declared Taiwo Oyebanjo, culpable of contravening the order of the court involving the shared custody of the couple’s children.  She has been ordered to pay a fine of N200,000 within 30 days or risk jail term until the fine is paid.  Recall that in suit No. GWD/ PET/25/21,  the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife divided custody of the kids after Dotun applied for it in April 2022.  Both parties initially complied, but Taiwo denied Dotun access to their children since December 2022.  Dotun sought legal redress and also res...

Troops neutralise 4 suspected bandits, arrest 120 others in Plateau, Kaduna Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Special Military Task Force maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states, have neutralised four suspected bandits. Capt. James Oya, the Media Officer of the operation made this known in a statement on Monday in Jos. The troops, he said, also arrested 120 others over various criminal acts within its areas of operation between Oct. 16 and Oct. 22. Oya said that some of the suspects were arrested for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling and drug peddling, among other criminal acts. War against touts: 64 suspects arrested in Anambra Barely 24 hours after inaugurating the Anambra State Anti-Touting Squad, 64 suspected touts were arrested in various parts of Onitsha on Tuesday. Along with other suspected criminals, they were arrested around the notorious Upper Iweka, Bridge Head and Chisco Motor Park areas in the commercial city. Although there is no specific law on touting in the state, it was gathered that the suspects might be charged and prosecuted under existing laws, pending the passage of a relevant law by the state House of Assembly.  18-yr-old nursing mother detained in Delta hospital over unpaid bills Toyin Oluwagbemiga, an 18-year-old nursing mother, and her infant have been detained at the Trinity Hospital in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State for the past five months. Toyin, who is appealing to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and other spirited individuals to come to her aid, was held by the hospital management after she failed to make payment of her N537,800 medical bills. Trista Fullerton, 36, who had lost custody of her kids, was ‘displaying bizarre behaviour’ while seen with six children on Saturday afternoon, October 21, according to the Anderson Police Department in California. Police officers who responded to a concerned citizen’s welfare check request found Fullerton and the kids in a parking lot and discovered their Dodge pickup truck had an Arkansas license plate.  FG approves $3.45bn World Bank loan to boost power and other sectors. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a $3.45bn World Bank loan application for the financing of five items. Mr Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, disclosed this after the FEC meeting in Abuja on Monday, Oct. 23. He said the council approved the loan request during its meeting at the State House, adding that the Federal Government would begin to receive the $3.5bn “zero-interest” loan. According to him, the loan is payable within 40 years with a 10-year moratorium which means payments would start from 2033. “Today at the Federal Executive Council, I presented five memos which were gracefully approved by the Council. Dilip Marcus Sundhod, 47, succumbed to his injuries after crashing into the side ofa cliff while competing in the International Air Games Festival with friends. After opening his parachute, Sundhod lost control and smashed into the cliffside in Butterfly Valley. Emergency services rushed to his aid after being alerted to the horror crash by friends. Everton chairman Bill Kenwright dies aged 78 Everton football club of England,  chairman and majority shareholder, Bill Kenwright has died at the age of 78. In a statement on the club's website on Tuesday, October 24,  the club confirmed it was mourning the death of its long-term chairman, who it confirmed passed away on Monday evening. "The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration," the statement added.  "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Everton are with his partner Jenny Seagrove, his daughter Lucy Kenwright, grandchildren and everybody who knew and loved him." Kenwright first joined the board at Everton in 1989 and became deputy chairman a decade later after buying a majority share in the club. He had been chairman of Everton for almost 20 years.

  NIGERIAN NAVY TO ESTABLISH BASE AT SHAGUNU, NIGER STATE The Nigerian Navy is to establish a Naval Base at Shagunu, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.  The Commanding Officer, Naval Outpost Shagunu, Navy Captain Gabriel Ogbodo gave the indication during a visit to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago at the Government House, Minna. He said the visit was to inform the Governor of the ongoing survey for the proposed Naval base at Shagunu.
