The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. OAP Dotun's estranged wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo, risks jail term as she is charged with contempt of court for denying her children's father access to them.  Taiwo Oyebanjo, the ex-wife of OAP Dotun Kayode and younger sister of singer Dapo "D'Banj" Oyebanjo, has been found guilty of contempt of court and may be committed to prison, in a divorce suit she filed in Abuja.   A high court sitting in Dukpa, Abuja, on Monday, Oct. 23, declared Taiwo Oyebanjo, culpable of contravening the order of the court involving the shared custody of the couple’s children.  She has been ordered to pay a fine of N200,000 within 30 days or risk jail term until the fine is paid.  Recall that in suit No. GWD/ PET/25/21,  the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife divided custody of the kids after Dotun applied for it in April 2022.  Both parties initially complied, but Taiwo denied Dotun access to their children since December 2022.  Dotun sought legal redress and also resorted to publicis

Troops neutralise 4 suspected bandits, arrest 120 others in Plateau, Kaduna Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Special Military Task Force maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states, have neutralised four suspected bandits. Capt. James Oya, the Media Officer of the operation made this known in a statement on Monday in Jos. The troops, he said, also arrested 120 others over various criminal acts within its areas of operation between Oct. 16 and Oct. 22. Oya said that some of the suspects were arrested for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling and drug peddling, among other criminal acts. War against touts: 64 suspects arrested in Anambra Barely 24 hours after inaugurating the Anambra State Anti-Touting Squad, 64 suspected touts were arrested in various parts of Onitsha on Tuesday. Along with other suspected criminals, they were arrested around the notorious Upper Iweka, Bridge Head and Chisco Motor Park areas in the commercial city. Although there is no specific law on touting in the state, it was gathered that the suspects might be charged and prosecuted under existing laws, pending the passage of a relevant law by the state House of Assembly. A mother allegedly ‘kidnapping’ her eight biological children from foster homes and took them halfway across the country. Trista Fullerton, 36, who had lost custody of her kids, was ‘displaying bizarre behaviour’ while seen with six children on Saturday afternoon, October 21, according to the Anderson Police Department in California. Police officers who responded to a concerned citizen’s welfare check request found Fullerton and the kids in a parking lot and discovered their Dodge pickup truck had an Arkansas license plate. Officers identified Fullerton as being from Rogers, Arkansas. They said she had an outstanding felony warrant for abducting eight children.  FG approves $3.45bn World Bank loan to boost power and other sectors. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a $3.45bn World Bank loan application for the financing of five items. Mr Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, disclosed this after the FEC meeting in Abuja on Monday, Oct. 23. He said the council approved the loan request during its meeting at the State House, adding that the Federal Government would begin to receive the $3.5bn “zero-interest” loan.  Jumper plunges to his death after losing control of parachute. A British base jumper has plunged to his death after losing control of his parachute during a 1,300ft jump in Turkey. Dilip Marcus Sundhod, 47, succumbed to his injuries after crashing into the side ofa cliff while competing in the International Air Games Festival with friends. After opening his parachute, Sundhod lost control and smashed into the cliffside in Butterfly Valley. Emergency services rushed to his aid after being alerted to the horror crash by friends. It took workers around an hour to reach the spot where Sundhod had fallen, before they pronounced him dead at the scene. Everton chairman Bill Kenwright dies aged 78 Everton football club of England,  chairman and majority shareholder, Bill Kenwright has died at the age of 78. In a statement on the club's website on Tuesday, October 24,  the club confirmed it was mourning the death of its long-term chairman, who it confirmed passed away on Monday evening. "The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration," the statement added.  "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Everton are with his partner Jenny Seagrove, his daughter Lucy Kenwright, grandchildren and everybody who knew and loved him." Kenwright first joined the board at Everton in 1989 and became deputy chairman a decade later after buying a majority share in the club. He had been chairman of Everton for almost 20 years.

A statement by NIDCOM Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols  Abdur-Rahman Balogun says though the matter has not been officially reported to the Nigerian embassy in the Phillipines, but the commission has asked the “ eyewitness “ who posted the gory incident on his social media handle to provide more details to the Commission email.  It explains that the Commission will set the machinery in motion to investigate the matter and unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

 Over 100 Stranded Nigerians Return From Niger Republic  Federal Government has facilitated the reception of 108 Nigerian migrants who were stranded in Niger Republic.  In a statement by the  Southwest Zonal Coordinator  National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons Mr. Alexander Oturu says their humanitarian return was facilitated by the Nigerian mission in Niamey and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).  The reception exercise took place at the Cargo terminal of the Murtala Mohamed International Airport, in Lagos Nigeria.  Representing the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission For Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Mr. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed,  the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Alexander Oturu, stated that in line with Mr. President's Renewed Hope Agenda, the returnees would be integrated into various government programmes, as well as the reintegration programmes of the UN Migration Agency, IOM.  The mi
