EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Founder of Nollywood Award Ceremony, AMAA Peace Anyiam Osigwe is Dead Reports just reaching my desk have it that the founder of the prestigious film awards ceremony, the African Movie Academy Awards (AMMA), Ms Peace Anyiam Osigwe, is dead. According to reports gathered, the respected filmmaker breathed her last at St Nicholas hospital, Lagos on Monday. In a renewed determination aimed at protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), arrested five suspects for vandalising bridges in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Members of the criminal syndicate were arrested following credible information and surveillance mounted by the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (DII) Crack Squad from the National Headquarters of the Corps with the support of other stakeholders. Recovered from the suspects are vandalised 5 inches galvanized pipes (5 mm), angle irons and a hand saw which was used in carrying out the destruction. Edo Kidnap Incident: 6 Persons Rescued as Search Team doubles down on rescue effort Following the directive from Governor Godwin Obaseki that the kidnappers that attacked the train in Igueben on Saturday be smoked out of their hiding and the persons abducted be rescued, we are happy to announce that six (6) persons have been rescued.  The six persons are: a 65-year-old man, a nursing mother with her baby, a 6-year-old girl and two siblings; aged two and five years old. We commend the efforts of the rescue team in the bushes and  their support staff that have been working tirelessly since the incident occurred to ensure the kidnapped passengers are rescued and reunited with their families.  We are confident that the other victims will be rescued soon as the highly motivated security personnel are in high spirits and have doubled down on the hot chase of the kidnappers. N13.1bn Bid for forfeited Ikoyi Property Fails as EFCC Opens Sale of Forfeited Real Estate Assets in Abuja The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, January 9, 2023 in Abuja, commenced the sale of forfeited real estate assets by sealed bids, to the highest bidders. At today's session, there was no successful bid for the properties in Lot 1 comprising 24 units of luxury flats at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, which was expected to be sold as a single unit. A bidder who turned in the highest bid of N13.1 billion was disqualified for failure to include the stipulated 10% of the bid amount. Other bidders did not make the reserve price. Consequently, Secretary to the Commission, Dr. George Ekpungu announced the Commission will open fresh bids for the properties in Lot 1.   El-Rufai Commends NAF For Improved Security In Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its efforts in restoration of relative peace in the state.   Speaking yesterday  when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao in his office at Headquarters NAF, Abuja, El-Rufai expressed gratitude of the people of Kaduna State to the CAS for improved security situation in the state. LASG REVIEWS MEMORANDA ON URBAN DEVELOPMENT POLICY   The Lagos State Government, as part of efforts towards the formulation of the State Urban Development Policy, has undertaken the review of memoranda from stakeholders.  The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, who spoke during the opening of the memoranda review meeting at the Women Development Centre, Agege at the weekend, said that the State Government, through the Ministry, had called for memorandum from interested stakeholders to aid in bequeathing an enduring Lagos State Urban Development Policy through a participatory and transparent process.  He stated that the review of memorandums was a necessary follow-up to the submission of the same by interested parties, following the ministry’s call for inputs from the members of the public.  Sotire, who described the response to the call for memorandums as overwhelming, disclosed that submissions were made by different quarters

RAIL MASS TRANSIT: LASG EXTENDS TRAFFIC DIVERSION AT MURITALA MOHAMMED WAY/YABA AXIS In continuation of the construction of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit project, the Lagos State Government has extended the traffic diversion already in place at Muritala Mohammed Way from the previously extended completion date of 31st December, 2022 to 28th February, 2023. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde explained that the extension was needed to enable the contractor to complete the construction of the ramp. Highlighting the diversion plan, Oladeinde restated that traffic on Muritala Mohammed way will be diverted to Ojuelegba-Tejuosho slip road to link Muritala Mohammed Way, while traffic circulating Western Avenue, Yaba and Herbert Macaulay will be diverted to Empire road to access Muritala Mohammed and Western Avenue for a continued journey as stated previously in the past traffic diversion notices.  DAAR Communications Chairman, Raymond Dokpesi, arrested in the U.K., to appear in court  The founder of DAAR Communications Limited, owners of AIT TV and Raypower radio, Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been arrested by the Police in the United Kingdom. Dokpesi was reportedly arrested at Heathrow Airport in London on Sunday morning, January 8, 2023.  According to Whistler, Dokpesi was arrested on arrival at Heathrow Airport. He had boarded a Lufthansa Flight LH916 from Frankfurt to London and was subsequently picked up at Terminal 2 of Heathrow Airport. “We were on a flight from Frankfurt to London and as we are about to arrive London, we were informed that we should all stay on our seat when the aircraft lands and that the Police wanted to do something. We were informed that there will be a police operation.
