       October 28, 2018 Press Statement The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is shocked by the news of the demise of one of our founding fathers, former Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman and former Minister of Works and Housing, Chief Tony Anenih, the Iyasele of Esanland. Chief Anenih was a great Nigerian, a light bearer, brilliant administrator, fine officer, quintessential nationalist and democratic icon, who made innumerable sacrifices for the unity, stability and development of our dear nation. Indeed, Chief Anenih, who was known in the political circle as “Mr. Fix it”, owing to his ability to find solutions to very knotty political and governance issues, remains a colossus with unparalleled array of legacies which will be celebrated for generations.         Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode will on Tuesday join the Governor General of Canada, Rt Hon Julie Payette to inaugurate a new biosecurity laboratory in Lagos. In a statement on Sunday, the Lagos State Government said the inauguration of the State Biobank, located at the Mainland Hospital in Yaba, where the isolation unit used by the State Government to contain the 2014 Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak was located. According to the statement, the Laboratory, funded by Canada in partnership with the State Government, would serve as a single repository for all high-concentration pathogens in the State, adding that it would also help the State mitigate post-EVD threats and build capacity for prevention, detection and response to future outbreaks in Nigeria and West Africa. It said the State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris would also be part of the delegation to accompany Governor Ambode to receive Hon. Payette at the Muritala Muhammed Internationa

       JUST IN: Troops Repel BHT attack at Gashigar. BHT were completely routed 27 October 2018 when they attempted to infiltrate 145 Battalion location at Gashigar Borno State. They fled in disarray due to superior firepower by the gallant troops and support from the Nigerian Airforce. However one soldier was Killed in Action while 4 others were Wounded in Action. The wounded were immediately evacuated to Maiduguri for treatment by Bell 412 Helicopter. Details later. More photos below.
