Unknown Gunmen Attacks Senator Ifeanyi Uba in Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State. Many killed  He was ambushed by heavily armed assassins who opened fire on his convoy. Name Aso Rock after Queen Elizabeth – Ohanaeze Replies Garba Shehu The apex socio-cultural organisation in Igbo land, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has asked the Presidency to jettison the call to name the University of Nigeria Nsukka after Queen Elizabeth University of Nigeria, saying such move can be best for Aso Rock in Abuja or other parts of the North. This was as it stressed that the former presidential aspirant of the Young Progressives Party, Adamu Garba, must tender an apology to Ndigbo for making such unhistorical remark. Garba, had, on Friday, advised President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to immortalise Queen Elizabeth who died on Thursday, at 96, by renaming the UNN after her. But reacting, the Chidi Ibeh-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in a statement by its Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said such remark was capable of instigating conflict in the country.

Police Arrest Leader Of Criminal Gang Which Robbed Hotel and R*ped Staff. Spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this in a press release said while the leader of the gang was arrested, his members escaped. The leader of a criminal gang which specializes in robbing commuters along Ufuma – Oko – Uga- Amaokpala road in Orumba North and Aguata Local Government Areas of Anambra state, has been arrested. He was arrested by the operatives of the Anambra State Police Command. Ikenga revealed that the group leader confessed that it was his gang which recently robbed a hotel in Ndikelionwu, where a female staff was r*ped. 46-year-old man arrested for allegedly r@ping his 17-year-old biological daughter in Ogun A 46 years old man, Olusegun Oluwole has been apprehended by men of Ogun state Police Command for allegedly forcefully having carnal knowledge of his 17 years old daughter (name withheld). The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ibara police station by the victim, who came in the company of some so safe corps men and reported that while she was sleeping in their one-room apartment at Amolaso area of Abeokuta at about 11:30 pm, her father having observed that others are fast asleep suddenly grabbed her and forcefully had s€x with her with a threat to kill her if she refused to allow him.  Upon the report, the DPO Ibara division, CSP Bernard Egbondiya, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested. Her Majesty The Queen’s coffin has arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where it will rest in the Throne Room until tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow a Procession will be formed on the forecourt of the Palace of Holyroodhouse to convey the Coffin to St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh. The King and Members of the Royal Family will take part in the Procession and attend a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral to receive the Coffin. Her Majesty's Coffin will then lie at rest in St Giles' Cathedral, guarded by Vigils from The Royal Company of Archers, to allow the people of Scotland to pay their respects.. EARLIER REPORT  Her Majesty The Queen’s coffin has left Balmoral. Accompanied by The Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence, the cortege will travel to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. FUEL SCARCITY LOOMS IN BENUE AS TANKER DRIVERS, IPMAN SHUT NNPC DEPOT, PETROL STATIONS Acute fuel scarcity has hit Makurdi, the Benue State capital and its environs following strike action embarked upon by Petrol Tanker Drivers of NUPENG, Apir Depot. The PTD of NUPENG, NNPC Apir Depot are at loggerheads with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited enforcement team called “Operation White.”  The controversy has led to the boycott of NNPC Apir depot by the entire depot community. ASUU: UNIBEN Staff Commits Suicide Carter Oshodin, a staff member of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has committed suicide in Edo State. The deceased, who works as a data entry staff in the institution, committed suicide over alleged financial difficulty as a result of the strike by academic and non-academic Unions in Universities. It was gathered that the deceased had been complaining of hardship and begged for financial support from neighbours within the University’s premises. One of Oshodin’s Facebook friends simply identified as, Edward, revealed that Oshodin had lamented about how he could not pay for his daughter’s fee. He said, “He committed suicide on Friday and according to a post on his Facebook, he said he was facing financial difficulties and could pay the school fees of his two young daughters. WHO Pledges Support To Ending Suicide In Nigeria  World Health Organization, WHO, has  estimated that over 700,000 people commit suicide annually globally with 77% of them occurring in low and middle income countries. WHO Country Representative, Dr Walter Mulombo, who gave the estimate recently in Abuja, said suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15 to 29 year olds.  According to him, suicide will continue to remain a serious public health concern with a profound impact on all because for every suicide, there are likely 20 other people attempting suicide and many more have serious thoughts of suicide.  He called on the citizenry to partner the Federal government in its commitment towards preventing suicide in the country, saying that with team work, suicide is preventable. Comedian, Sabinus just survived motor accident with his new Benz last night. According to reports, a suspected drunk driver ran into the comedian's car from the other side of the road.  Good thing that he survived, I'm happy for him. But I don't believe this story. Obviously, he was the drunk driver. He had an engagement party last night. Drinking and driving kills. Everyone should be careful.

PRESS RELEASE  ECONOMIC SABOTAGE: POLICE BUSTS ILLEGAL PETROLEUM REFINING SITE, ARRESTS 2 SUSPECTS, RECOVERS TRUCKS  Police operatives attached to the IGP Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB) in the late hours of August 7, 2022, successfully busted an illegal petroleum refining operation in Edo State. This follows the interception of intelligence on activities of an alleged illicit petroleum products refining syndicate operating adjacent to Agbor Junction, Benin City, Edo State  via a whistle blower through the recently created Nigeria National Petroleum Company's (NNPC) Command and Control Centre Portal.  Consequent to the raid on the illegal petroleum refining site, three (3) empty DAF Trucks, thirty-one (31) immobile surface tanks – 7 of which were loaded with unspecified quantity of petroleum products, were discovered by the Police. Additionally, two suspects,  one Chinedu Iyanabor aged 18 and Sunday Iyagbesun aged 52, were arrested during the raid
