  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. GOV. ORTOM SUSPENDS BIPC MD OVER ALLEGED FINANCIAL IMPROPRIETY Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has suspended the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Benue Investment and Property Company, Limited, BIPC, Barr. Alex Adum, from office over financial impropriety leveled against him. The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Professor Anthony Ijoho, SAN, disclosed this in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Makurdi, on Sunday. The statement read in part, “the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Samuel Ortom, has approved the indefinite suspension of Alex Ter Adum, Esq, from office as Managing Director/ CEO of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited pending the termination of cases of financial impropriety levelled against him. Assets Declaration: Court Okays Hearing Of Suit Against INEC Chairman, Yakubu Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has okayed the hearing of a suit seeking to compel the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmud Yakubu, to declare his assets. The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/33/2021, was brought before the court by a citizen, Hon. Emmanuel Agonsi. Whereas the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, was cited as the 1st respondent, the INEC boss was listed as the 2nd respondent.

2023: Don't engage in activities that threaten Nigeria's unity, Abiodun tells Nigerians  As the country inches closer to another general election, the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has , appealed to Nigerians not to engage in actions capable of threatening the peace and unity towards the conduct of the 2023 poll. The governor who made this appeal at the 62nd Independence Anniversary Church Service held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, stressed the need for continued peaceful co-existence among Nigerians for the socio-economic and political development of the country.
