 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

UZODIMMA  The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma on Sunday drove words of Hope to the hearts of Ndi Imo in a Thanksgiving Mass at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri conducted by Archbishop Ugorji, marking Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day Anniversary. Governor Uzodimma in his address agreed that Nigeria has survived enormous challenges but there is still hope in God Almighty for his grace in sustaining the peace and unity this Nation, despite various challenges and shortcomings.  He further stated that in Thanksgiving to God, Imo has miraculously surmounted the challenges of the enemy. GOV. ORTOM SUSPENDS BIPC MD OVER ALLEGED FINANCIAL IMPROPRIETY Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has suspended the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Benue Investment and Property Company, Limited, BIPC, Barr. Alex Adum, from office over financial impropriety leveled against him. The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Professor Anthony Ijoho, SAN, disclosed this in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Makurdi, on Sunday. The statement read in part, “the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Samuel Ortom, has approved the indefinite suspension of Alex Ter Adum, Esq, from office as Managing Director/ CEO of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited pending the termination of cases of financial impropriety levelled against him. Assets Declaration: Court Okays Hearing Of Suit Against INEC Chairman, Yakubu Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has okayed the hearing of a suit seeking to compel the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmud Yakubu, to declare his assets. The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/33/2021, was brought before the court by a citizen, Hon. Emmanuel Agonsi. Whereas the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, was cited as the 1st respondent, the INEC boss was listed as the 2nd respondent.

2023: Don't engage in activities that threaten Nigeria's unity, Abiodun tells Nigerians  As the country inches closer to another general election, the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has , appealed to Nigerians not to engage in actions capable of threatening the peace and unity towards the conduct of the 2023 poll. The governor who made this appeal at the 62nd Independence Anniversary Church Service held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, stressed the need for continued peaceful co-existence among Nigerians for the socio-economic and political development of the country. Abiodun represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele,  acknowledged the anxiety generally expressed by Nigerians whenever general election is about to take place, noting that "this is  because an average citizen fears that this is the time the unity of the nation is always threatened". Yesterday 24th Sept. 2022; Chief of Staff to Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi in company of the Commissioner for Environment Engr. Felix Odimegwu, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs Hon Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, and State Chairman of SEMA Sir. Paul Odenigbo visited flooded communities in Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area.
