EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

      As part of efforts geared towards improving the operational skills of Regiment personnel in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminality across the country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 30 January 2019, commissioned a Commando Village at NAF Base Bauchi. The Commando Village, which is designed as a typical rural area scenario, would be used by the NAF Regiment personnel for training and simulation exercises. Speaking during the commissioning, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the NAF’s desire to have a professional force that is capable of not only projecting Air Power but also protecting its assets and bases led to the drive to rapidly develop NAF force protection capability.       JUST IN. Troops Neutralise Boko Haram Terrorists. At about 9.30 a.m today 30 January 2019, troops of 192 Battalion Gwoza - Borno State in conjunction with members of Civilian Joint Task Force on a fighting patrol along Gwoza -Yemteke Road came in contact with unspecified number of BHTs. The Gallant Troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle neutralizing 4 of them whilst others fled with gunshot wounds. Items recovered include 2 AK 47 Rifles and 2 magazines. LAGOS FIRE SERVICE WARNS AGAINST ABANDONED VEHICLES ON ROADS ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.#PRESS RELEASE.

        The Acting Director Lagos Fire Service, Mr. Rasaki Musibau on Wednesday warned motorists to avoid abandoning their vehicles on roads, especially at night in order to avert accidents and loss of lives. He made this assertion during his visit to the site of multiple accidents which claimed two lives, left five people injured and involved five vehicles along Lagos Badagry Expressway opposite Ojo Military Cantonment  in Lagos. According to him, "it is disheartening to note that motorists are not cautious of the dangers inherent in abandoning their vehicles on the road overnight with excuses of malfunction or fault, saying that the accident was primarily caused by three vehicles which included one IVECO Tipper Truck loaded with sand, one Mack Trailer with Sumec and Elemax generating sets and one other unknown car which were stationed on the expressway overnight; the vehicles were rammed into unknowingly in the early hours of Wednesday by other oncoming vehicles". “

FRAUDSTER BAGS 3 YEARS FOR DIVERTING MOSQUITO NETS PROVIDED BY GLOBAL FUND.{PHOTOS}.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Gombe Zonal Office has secured the conviction of Sunday O. Ogar, for diverting mosquito nets provided by funds from the Global Fund, an international donor organization based in Geneva. Ogar was arraigned before Justice Abubakar Jauro of the Gombe State High Court on two counts bordering on “misappropriation and forgery”. He was arrested on October 29, 2018 following the outcome of investigations into the diversion of “long lasting” insecticide mosquito nets meant for distribution to 40 Primary Health Care Centres across Dukku Local Government Area in the state. The materials were diverted by the convict while being an ad-hoc staff of a logistics company. The company was contracted for the distribution of 106 bales of the nets, each containing 50 pieces. The convict distributed 92 bales and diverted 14 bales. The nets were provided through funds from the Global Fund (an international donor organisation based in Geneva

     The Nigerian Navy has handed over 19 suspects and two fibre boats laden with petroleum products to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for further investigation and prosecution. The suspects are: Ayeni John, Adetini Ademola, Saliu Malik, Emmanuel Tosu, Emopin Moneyin, Malade Aiyetimiyi, Oduroja Ojune, Ikudehinbu Idowu, Abogun Ota, Elamah Augustine and Olarotimi Elikanah. Others are: Thank-God Benjamin, Abbas Friday, Victor Goldsmith, Gbenga Thomas, Ibane Austin, Idowu Surprise, Asemia Thomas and Agbayoh Lawrence. They were arrested on August 30, 2018 in Lagos and some parts of Ondo State and are alleged to be involved in an illegal dealing in petroleum products sourced from the hijacked vessel, MT MAMA ELIZABETH. The sum of N3,500,000.00 (Three Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) only suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the illegally acquired products was found on the suspects at the point of arrest.
