 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Yesterday, around 10:30 p.m. operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), acting on credible intelligence arrested five robbery suspects at Agege Under bridge, for harassing and dispossessing passersby of their valuables.    The suspects are: Akeem Alabi (30), Toba Bolu (20), Abah Abdullahi (35), Sulaiman Mohammed (32) and Yusuf Alabi (30).   Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has stated that there would be more sting operations in the area to reduce robbery in the area.    The Commander, acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed that the suspect be charged to court immediately. Lagos Residents Hand Over Imam, Four Others Caught With Human S^kull To Nigerian Police Residents of Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State have handed over a popular Chief Imam in the community identified only as Babalola and four of his men to the police after they were allegedly caught with a human skull and other parts of a human body. A resident and eyewitness who confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Friday said that one of the Islamic clerics was caught with the human skull and he confessed that he was working for his principal, Imam Babalola. Nollywood actress, Toke Makinwa has revealed that she no longer considers cheating as a deal breaker.  AFCON: Cape Verde become first team to qualify for knockout rounds Cape Verde have become the first country at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to qualify for the knockout rounds officially. The small island country defeated Mozambique 3-0 on Friday to confirm their progress in the tournament. Bebe opened the scoring with a cracking free-kick from over 30 yards in the 32nd minute. Ryan Mendes and Kevin Pina added more goals in the second half to seal their win. The result takes Cape Verde up to six points, after they beat Ghana in their opening fixture. They are the only team in the competition to record two wins so far.

Airport Suspends Staff Member Caught Trying To Plant Drug In Man’s Luggage An airport staff member, whose identity is yet-to-be disclosed, has been caught red-handed while trying to plant drugs into a man’s luggage. In a video that has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), the man was seen slapping the airport staff after discovering that he was trying to put the drug in his luggage. Meanwhile, Pathfinder International, a leading security company in the Nigerian aviation industry, has suspended the staff member. Revealing why he was suspended, the company said its staff was suspended for attempting to dispatch medication out of the country through a passenger. While confirming the name of the medication to be Glucosamine Chondroitin, the company maintained that it does not tolerate indiscipline in its operations. Nasarawa: Miyetti Allah floats vigilante group to tackle insecurity . Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, the Fulani Socio-Cultural Association, has inaugurated a Nomad Vigilante group. The move is aimed at complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies and addressing rising concerns related to security, particularly in Nasarawa State. The National President of the association, Bello Bodejo, announced the formation of the Nomad Vigilante during an event in Lafia on Wednesday. The initial batch comprises 1144 Fulani youths drawn from various communities across the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nasarawa State. In his statement, Bodejo stated that the profiling of additional recruits is ongoing, with a target to enlist up to 4000 youths for comprehensive coverage of all Fulani communities. Kano Emirates’ Issue Will Definitely Be Revisited – Kwankwaso Former Governor of Kano State and the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said that the issue of Kano emirates will definitely be revisited. Former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had split the Kano emirate into five and dethroned the then Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi. Supreme Court Affirms The Election Of Dapo Abiodun As Governor Of Ogun State The Supreme Court has affirmed the March 18, 2023 election of Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, as Governor of Ogun state.  Justice Tijani Abubakar who read the lead judgment of the 5-man panel of the Supreme Court, held that the appeal was unmeritorious and deserved to be dismissed. The apex court affirmed separate judgments of the lower courts which had dismissed Adebutu's petition for being grossly incompetent and held that Parties should bear their respective costs.  The unanimous judgment was on the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and it's candidate in the March 18, governorship election, Ladi Adebutu. Adebutu had challenged Abiodun’s re-election on the grounds that the Electoral Act, 2022 was not adhered to, citing corrupt practices and issue of non-qualification. Supreme Court Affirms The Election Of Uba Sani As Governor Of Kaduna State  The supreme court has affirmed Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the duly elected governor of Kaduna. A five-member panel of the apex court unanimously dismissed the appeal filed by Mohammed Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for lacking merit. Justice Tijjani Abubakar, who read the lead judgment, held that the appellant‘s appeal was frivolous and vexatious and lacked merit. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Sani as winner of the poll after he scored 730, 001 votes to defeat Ashiru, who polled 719, 196 votes in the March 18 governorship election.
