The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. Minister Assures Power Restoration In Kebbi After TCN Inferno Nigerian Minister of budget and economic planning, Atiku Bagudu, says Federal Government will by all means ensure prompt restoration of power supply in Kebbi state. The minister gave the assurance during his visit to the Birnin-Kebbi Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) substation on Monday alongside Kebbi State deputy governor, Umar Abubakar. Kebbi state has experienced a power outage since September 14, 2023, after a fire outbreak at its substation, which also affected Sokoto state. Abubakar said the power supplies would be restored to parts of Kebbi State on Tuesday. He gave the assurance that with the collaboration of the ministry, state government and TCN engineers who he said will work round the clock, the power supply will be restored quickly. TCN had on Friday restored full power supply to Sokoto state.

Kano Records 5,800 Cases Of Diphtheria - UNICEF United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF), says Kano has recorded 5,800 cumulative cases of diphtheria, from January 2023 to date. The chief of UNICEF field office Kano, Mr. Raham Rihood Mohammed Farah, made this known in Kano, during a one day media orientation on Diphtheria outbreak, held in Kano. According to him, last week, over 400 suspected cases and 11 deaths were reported in Kano state, where eight local government areas are the most affected, which includes Ungogo, Dala, Fagge, Gwale, Kumbotso, Nassarawa, Kano Municipal and Tarauni . He pointed out that, recently there have been a surge in the number of Diphtheria cases, saying that,Nigeria is currently facing an outbreak of Diphtheria that need to be stopped and prevented. 12-Year-Old Adebola Whose ‘Intestine Went Missing In Lagos Hospital’ D!es Twelve-year-old Adebola Akin-Bright whose small intestine went missing during surgery in the hospital has died. A close member of the family confirmed the tragedy to BBC News Pidgin, adding that Adebola suffered from internal bleeding. He was subsequently rushed to the intensive care unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) but he did not make it. Adebola had been battling to survive after multiple surgeries were performed on him and it was confirmed that his small intestine was missing. Presidential Election Tribunal: Peter Obi, Atiku file appeal as they head to Supreme Court The Labour Party and its presidential candidate in the February 25th presidential election, Peter Obi, has filed an appeal against the September 6, 2023 ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) at the Supreme Court. NNPCL Disengages Management Staff Management staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, with less than 15 months left until their statutory retirement have been disengaged from service. A statement by the company indicates that workforce change became effective as of today, September 19. The move, which saw three Executive Vice Presidents exit the company, was described by NNPCL as “our bid to pursue effective organisational renewal to support the delivery of our strategic business objectives”. Tragedy struck Ugep community in Yakurr local government area of Cross River state as six members of Mr Edet Eteng’s family died in a ghastly motor accident. The auto crash, which occurred along Bekwara – Abochiche road, involved two vehicles and claimed the lives of a whole family numbering six including Mr Eteng, the wife and four of his children.
