 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. Electricity: National grid restored after partial disturbance -TCN The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says the national grid has been fully restored after a partial disturbance at about 11:21 a. m. on Sunday. Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’S General Manager Public Affairs in a statement in Abuja on Sunday said that the company initiated immediate restoration of the affected part of the grid.’ ”The Transmission Company of Nigeria,  hereby states that the grid experienced a partial disturbance at about 11:21hrs with Ibom power islanded feeding Eket, Ekim, Itu and Uyo transmission substations, during the period of partial disturbance, ” she said. Mbah said that prior to the incident, total generation on the grid was 3,901.25 Mega Watts (MW) at 8 a. m, a little over three hours before time of partial collapse. 10 hospitalised as police, cult groups clash in Lagos schools There was pandemonium on Wednesday, January 31, after a fight broke out among some cult groups said to be students of Community Senior Grammar School and Ikotun High School at Ikotun in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. The incident happened as a result of a long-time rivalry between two groups in the schools. The fight which started during the closing hour was said to have caused some policemen nearby to intervene to restore calm. On sighting the officers, the troublemakers started to hurl dangerous objects at them. The situation however degenerated when the officers called for reinforcement and after that shot teargas canisters into the premises of the school to disperse the groups.  Hage Geingab, Namibia’s President, Dies at 82 Namibia’s  President, Hage Geingob, has passed on at the age of 82, a presidential release said on Sunday. The statement signed by the Acting President, Nangolo Mbumba, said: “It is with utmost sadness and regret that I inform you that our beloved Dr. Hage G. Geingob, the President of the Republic of Namibia has passed on today.” Geingob who had been in the US briefly for “treatment therapy” for cancerous cells died late Saturday, a few days after he returned to continue receiving treatment in Namibia.  Nigeria Experiences First Grid Collapse In 2024 Nigeria is currently witnessing a national blackout as national grid has collapsed. The grid collapsed at 11:21am on Sunday. The situation led to shut down of all 20 power plants, except Ibom Power with 31 megawatts. While confirming the incident the Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) said the power outage was as a result of a system failure from the national grid “at 11:21 hours today, 4th February 2024 which has led to a nationwide power outage.” While appealing for patience among its customers, it assured that it is working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilized.

And it was on the basis of this manifesto that he was resoundingly elected into office by Ndi Anambra. Being a man of his words, he has dutifully continued to keep faith with the promises in the manifesto. When his promises materialize in terms of the plethora of infrastructural amenities, provision of massive employment in education and healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, etc, we are happy. But when it comes to compliance with the Law, some people are unhappy and recalcitrant. FLORIDA OFFICERS RESPOND TO CALL OF UNRESPONSIVE CHILDREN, MOTHER JUMPS FROM OVERPASS WHEN THEY ARRIVE. (PHOTO).

 Florida officers respond to call of unresponsive children, mother jumps from overpass when they arrive. Florida highway patrol were alerted to a medical emergency by a passers-by who witnessed the drama unfolding. There have also been reports of a 911 call from the scene and cpr being administered by an unidentified person and 2 children being unresponsive.  As police arrived on the scene, a woman identified as 42- year-old Shirlene Alcime, got out of the stalled vehicle and jumped off of the overpass and to the railroad tracks below. She was last listed as being in critical condition.  Police discovered a 3 year old male and 3 year old female unresponsive. The two were fraternal twins. The children were rushed to a local hospital where they later passed away.  Police are still trying to understand exactly what happened that led to the children being found in that state, and causing the mother to attempt to take her life. TEXAS MAN POSES AS A CHILD TO LURE AND KILL PREDATOR. (PHOTO).

 Texas man poses as child to lure and kill predator.  Authorities in Texas are alleging that 22-year-old James Spencer shot and killed 37-year-old Sean Showers in May of 2023. Police are saying Spencer pretended to be a minor online to lure Showers to a specific location. They go on to say Showers approached a vehicle for the potential meet up with a minor when he was shot several times by the occupant. Showers was later found deceased in a ditch with multiple gunshot wounds. Showers was a convicted sex offender.  Spencer has not entered a plea in the case yet.
