 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

FG Declares Public Holidays For Christmas, New Year Celebrations  *** The Federal Government has declared December 26th and 27th as well as January 2nd, 2023 as public holidays to make the Christmas and New Year celebrations respectively. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola confirmed this in a statement signed by the ministry’s permanent secretary Belgore Shuaib on Friday. The public holidays, the statement added, are to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year in that order. Aregbesola urged Christians to emulate Jesus and reflect on his teachings as they celebrate.

The deceased is identified as Selimota Idowu.  According to NTA that posted a photo with the caption "A Kaduna bound train Thursday morning crushed a female driver of a car to death at the Chikakore axis of Kubwa in Abuja. The deceased Selimota Idowu Suleiman, an NTA channel 5 Abuja staff was on her way to the office when she met her untimely death". More photos below.

The report by the IPO Philip Ikagwu has it that, a 4 years old child was kidnapped and taken to the above location. The report revealed that, the 4 arrested suspects usually used a mixture of hard drugs (Tramadol) in milk juice to  induce the baby to sleep at all times to avoid alerting the neighborhood with noise. Chief Mtom who was appalled by the story ordered that the law of Benue State against kidnapping be enforced immediately. Men of the police were on ground to ensure that the hideout was demolished as stated in the aforementioned law. Court Jails Man, 65, For N206.5m Stocks Fraud in Lagos Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, convicted and sentenced one Osho Aluko-Kola, who was prosecuted on a nine-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing to the tune of N206,502,490.02, to nine years imprisonment. Aluko-Kola was arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on July 4, 2020, alongside six companies: Centurion Registrars Limited; United Securities Limited; Evolution Construction & Engineering Design Limited; Cities & Towers Logistics Limited, Continental Exim Nigeria Limited and Diffusion Impex Limited.

ARMY COUNCIL RATIFIES ELEVATION OF SENIOR OFFICERS In recognition of their meritorious service to the nation, the Army Council has on Thursday 15 December 2022, approved the promotion of senior officers to the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General. In the promotion signed and released by the Military Secretary (Army), a total of 122 senior officers of the ranks of Brigadier General and Colonels were elevated to the next higher rank.  While a total of 52 Brigadier Generals were meritoriously promoted to the rank of Major General, 70 colonels were also elevated to the rank of Brigadier General. Abuja judge disfigured after cosmetic surgery, draws battle-line with therapist A skin-care therapist, Pamela Onyeagusi, and an Abuja National Industrial Court judge, Justice Zainab Bashir, have traded blame following unsuccessful cosmetic procedures which left burns on the latter’s skin. The therapist accused the judge of harassing and making life unbearable for her after she (Bashir) complained that the cosmetic treatments were not successful. However, Justice Bashir accused the therapist of damaging her skin, adding that she had to travel out of the country to treat herself. It was gathered that the judge approached Onyeagusi at her residence in Utako, Abuja, on May 8, 2022, to undergo facial, thigh, and stomach treatments after being referred by the therapist’s client. The procedures were completed and the judge was said to have paid the therapist the sum of $2,000 on that day, and the balance of N500,000 two days later. Ex-Kingmaker Sues El-Rufai, 13 Others, Seeks Emir Of Zazzau’s Removal A former kingmaker in the Zazzau Emirate Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Aminu, has sued the Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai; the Zazzau Emirate and 12 others over the appointment of Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as the 19th Emir of Zazzau. Aminu, who held the position of Wazirin Zazzau, a title that qualified him as one of the kingmakers during the selection process, has asked Kaduna State High Court to nullify the selection and appointment of the emir. Listed among other respondents in the case, which came up for mention yesterday, are the emir and the late Limamin Kona, Malam Sani Aliyu, who died in July 2021. DON'T CAMPAIGN ON OUR PULPITS, NKST WARNS POLITICIANS The Universal Reformed Christian Church popularly known as NKST in Benue State has warned politicians to desist from campaigning on its pulpits. In a statement yesterday NKST General Secretary, Reverend Ephraim Shir, said the warning became necessary following the visit of the Benue’s APC governorship candidate, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, to its just concluded National Conference Choir during which an unfortunate scenario purportedly occurred.
