  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. EFCC ARRESTS NINE SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN MINNA.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

         The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters in Minna, Niger State. They were arrested following intelligence volunteered to the Commission by concerned residents of the area. The suspects were picked up by the operatives of the Commission at their hideouts in Room 202, Seftec Hotels, behind NNPC’s mega petrol filling station, Minna, Niger State, for their alleged involvement in a love scam and other internet related crimes. The suspects are: Ohanuka. O. Samuel, 26; Adebayo Adeyinka Samuel, 26; Omoh Simeon, 25; Igah Abumere, 28 and Ajobo Sunday, 26. Others are Abdukadir Musbau, 20; Iredia Johnson 29, Aliyu Abdulazeez, 25, and Adebisi Temitope, 27. Items recovered from the suspects include, one Toyota Venza with registration number, laptops and exotic phones. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.More photos below.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt zonal office on Thursday, August 20, 2020, secured the conviction of Chamseddine Waell Mohammed and Dina Jihad Khali who both pleaded guilty to separate one count charge of money laundering preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The offences run contrary to Section 2 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 (as amended) and punishable under Section 2 (5) of the same Act. Both defendants were sentenced to two years imprisonment by Justice I. M. Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. NIGERIA POLICE INVITES LAGOS APPLICANTS FOR PHYSICAL SCREENING ON AUGUST 24.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       Lagos State indigenes, who applied for employment into the Nigeria Police Force as Recruits, will undergo physical screening at the State Police Command, Ikeja on Monday, August 24. A statement issued today by the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy advised all shortlisted candidates to arrive at the screening by 8a.m. All applicants, who have already been contacted via email by the Police, should report at the State Command with the following documents: National Identity Number (NIN); original and duplicate copies of credentials as well as a printout of their Application Profile Page. The exercise will be conducted for two weeks - from Monday, August 24 to Monday, September 7, 2020. While wishing all applicants luck during the interview, the statement urged all applicants to always respect the COVID-19 safety guidelines issued by the Federal and State governments.

HERDERS ATTACKED BROTHERS IN BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU STATE.{PHOTOS}.

         On Sunday, 16th August 2020. a Fulani herdsman attacked and severely injured two brothers in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state. Narrating the incident to Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Victor Samuel who owns a farm in Rakung, Gassa Village said he came into his farm on Sunday, 16th August 2020 and found Fulani herdsmen grazing his cows on his farm. According to Mr Victor, he asked the Fulani Herdsm en to leave his farm but they did not. They only apologized and changed location and still continued to graze on the farm. He confronted them and insisted that they pay for damages. Mr Victor told Stefanos Foundation that the herdsmen apologized but refused to pay and started leading their cattle out. He further stated that he proceeded to call his brother, Davou Samuel, who came and intercepted them. In the struggle to ensure that the herders didn't escape, one of the Fulani attacked them with a dagger and they sustained varying degrees of injuries. Thankfully, none
