The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. 23-year-old man arraigns his own kidnap in Ogun to extort N10 million from his parents to start an online business A 23-year-old man identified as Edward Okache was on October 10 arrested alongside four others namely Asamoah Ernest, Isiah Uti, Ephraim Anyijor, and charity Lukpata for faking his own kidnap. The suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Mowe divisional headquarters by one Comfort Okache who reported via phone call that her younger brother who traveled from Calabar to Lagos was kidnapped around the Mowe area of Ogun state, and that the kidnappers were demanding N10 million if the relations want to see the boy alive.  Upon the report, the DPO Mowe division, SP Folake Afeniforo mobilized the division's tactical teams and moved to the area.Upon painstaking and enduring combing of the surrounding bush at Orimerunmu area, the victim was sighted in an uncompleted building with the duo of Asamoah Ernest, a Ghanaian, and Isiah Uti, where he was tied in both hands an

Residents to pay N100,000 for burial posters in Anambra Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo has slammed a levy of N100,000 on residents for burial posters in the State.  The Governor said those willing to paste burial and other events posters in any part of the State would pay an N5, 000 tax which would last for only two weeks. The tax rates were contained in a letter addressed to the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions,ASATU by the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency ANSAA, Mr Tony ujubuonu                                                  The letter itled: "Regulation of ceremonial adverts" explained that the agency would work in partnership with ASATU to recover the taxes as sources of internally generated revenue IGR and to curb menace of 'non-commercial adverts' in the state. In April 2022, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad, in partnership with the NSW Crime Commission (NSWCC), established Strike Force Great to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine throughout the state’s Central Coast and Hunter regions. EFCC Re-arraigns Father, Son for Alleged N5.6bn Fraud in Lagos The Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC has re-arraigned one Emmanuel Adewunmi Jayeoba alongside his son, Adewale Daniel Jayeoba, before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. The defendants were re-arraigned on a 14-count amended information bordering on money laundering to the tune of N5, 697, 029, 685 ( Five Billion, Six Hundred and Ninety –seven Million, Twenty-Nine Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty- Five Naira). ‘Japa’: UK Considering Tougher Rules As Nigerians Bring Highest Number Of Relatives The United Kingdom is considering tightening the rules on how many relatives migrants can bring into the country. According to Daily Mail, UK, it has been discovered that Nigerian migrants bring in the highest number of dependants when compared to other groups of migrants. Government sources said the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman was considering tightening the rules on dependants after Home Office immigration figures showed a “surprising inconsistency” across different nationalities coming to the UK to work and study. Based on the Home Office report, Nigerians accounted for 40% of all dependants who accompanied foreign students in the 12 months to June - despite Nigerian students making up just 7% of all foreign students in that period. Some 34,000 Nigerians were given study visas in the UK, bringing with them a total of 31,898 dependants. A similar ratio was recorded for work visas, with 8,972 Niger

Anambra FRSC Sector Command Receives New Zonal Commander, Njoku The Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps In charge of Anambra, Delta and Edo States, Mr. Chukwuma Njoku, has implored officers of the corps  in Anambra State Sector Command to be committed to the discharge of their duties to ensure that the mandate of the corps is achieved effectively for the benefit of the nation.
