     The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC), on Tuesday, embarked on advocacy to financial institutions, motor parks and other public places across the metropolis to sensitise residents on the importance of hand washing with soap under running water to flatten the curve of COVID-19 in the State. Speaking during the exercise, tagged “Stop-The-Spread”, Executive Secretary of LSWRC, Mrs. Funk e Adepoju said the advocacy was geared towards arousing the consciousness of residents to take responsibility and support efforts of the State Government to curb further spread of the global pandemic. Adepoju also stated that the initiative is in furtherance of ‘WASH’ which is an acronym for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene - a key health issue with international organisations and the focus of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 6.      Today, we discharged 60 COVID19 Lagos patients; 40 males and 20 females, from our Yaba, Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki isolation facilities to reunite with their families and society. The patients, 31 from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 19 from the Ibeju-Lekki and 10 from Eti-Osa Isolation Centres were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative in two consecutive readings. With this, the number of COVID19 confirmed cases that have been successfully manage d and discharged in Lagos is now 321. It is important that we do the right things at this time.     Today 5/5/2020 at about 9:am, there was a fire outbreak at a Storey building belonging to Late Chief Bernard Okonkwo of Umudunu village,Abagana in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State. Following the distress call,Police patrol team led by DPO Abagana Division CSP Prince Ugochukwu Ezejiofor rushed to the scene and alerted the fire service department who responded swiftly and extinguished the fire. Meanwhile, the Area was also cordoned off by the Police to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation to loot.Cause of fire is yet unknown and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. Consequently, no loss of life and no casualty recorded.        Today being 05/05/2020 at about 7:30am,a metallic ash coloured Toyota Verso SUV with Lagos Reg/No. LSD 73 FE reasonably suspected to have been stolen was abandoned by unknown persons along Jubilee road Igboukwu in Aguata LGA of Anambra State.Police operatives attached to Igboukwu Division recovered the Car to the Station. Dr Bala who disclosed this in an interview with Vanguard on Tuesday said it members have resolved that it would not risk their lives if Personal Protection Equipments, PPEs are not provided for them.
