 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.           The Federal Road Safety Corps on Thursday 03 September,2020 commissioned 121 Officers after successfully completing an intensive Marshals Conversion Course at the FRSC Academy Udi in Enugu State   The Course ended with an impressive Passing Out Parade by the 121 Cadets held at the FRSC Academy Parade Ground, after which their new ranks of Assistant Route Commander ARC()   were unveiled at a peeping ceremony held inside the FRSC Academy Ultra Modern Thearter.         The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos zonal office, has arrested 13 suspected internet fraudsters, around the Alagbado axis of Lagos State. The suspects are Olowosoke Temidire; Oladoyin Tolulope; Adeyemi Toyese Jubril; Agbeluyi Olusola; Olayinka Azeez; Abdullahi Olalekan; Gbenga Ade; Nwokeso Innocent; Obodoukwu Godstime; Mba Emmanuel; Oluwadare Ibisiola, Damilola Ogunsemire and Christopher Ubong The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 by operatives of the Commission at Plot 109 Obas Street off AIT Estate, Lagos State, and some other areas within the axis, following credible intelligence received from concerned members of the public on their criminal activities.          The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has decried the upsurge in noise pollution across the State and the resultant environmental violations, as it recoded over 50 complaints and sealed 15 hospitality facilities within seven days. The General Manager of the Agency, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, who disclosed this during an enforcement exercise embarked upon due to the constant outcry over environmental noise, lamented the flagrant disobedience of some hospitality/leisure operators to environmental laws guiding their business operations. According to her, “We responded to over 50 complaints on noise pollution and sealed 15 facilities after verification and confirmation of claims. This calls for caution and responsiveness on the part of all concerned.           As part of organised effort to rid the Federal Road Safety Corps of indiscipline and corrupt elements, the Board, Federal Road Safety Commission has granted approval for the award of various degrees of punishment to 28 officers of the Corps in accordance with the provisions of the FRSC Regulation on Discipline. The officers had been found culpable for desertion, forgery, number plate racketeering, bribery, scandalous behaviour, drivers license racketeering, patrol misconduct, among others.         The Federal Government has released the list of international airlines denied approval to operate in Nigeria as international flights resume on Saturday. The international airlines denied flying approval, according to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, include Air France, KLM, Etihad, Rwandair, Lufthansa, TAAG Angola Airlines and others. Some airlines were however denied approval because international flights were yet to resume in their countries. They are Cape Verde and South African airlines. The airlines given licence to operate include: Middle-East, British Airways, Delta airlines, Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Egyptair, Air Peace, Virgin Atlantic, Asky, Africa World Airways (AWA), Air Cote-d’Ivoire, Kenya Airways, Emirate, and Turkish airlines. They are expected to operate within COVID-19 protocols. Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Sirika also issued further guidelines for arriving and departing international passengers.

774,000 JOBS: NO BVN, NO PAYMENT – KEYAMO.{PHOTO}.

      The federal government says that successful applicants for the 774,000 jobs slot, under the Extended Special Public Works Programme, will be paid through bank accounts, using Bank Verification Numbers, BVN. Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, said at a news conference he jointly addressed with Director-General, National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Nasir Ladan, on Thursday in Abuja. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Extended Special Public Works Programme is designed to employ 1,000 unskilled workers in each of the 774 Local Government Areas for road rehabilitation, construction, sanitation, among others. Mr Keyamo said government settled for the measure to entrench a system of transparency and to avoid double payments to applicants during the implementation. He said that biometrics of successful applicants would be captured by the banks during the process. According to him, arrangements with the banks will be concluded in the next few days to
