 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Gangsta's Paradise rapper Coolio died from the effects of several drugs including fentanyl, according to his manager Jarez Posey and a Los Angeles County coroner's report. The 59-year-old music star was pronounced dead at the scene after he was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor of a friend's LA home in September last year. The report, which deemed his death accidental, also noted that the rapper was suffering from heart disease and asthma and had recently used the hallucinogen phencyclidine, or PCP.

Commences Removal of Distressed Building at Ketu.  Officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) have arrested Mr. Francis Umeh, who is suspected to be the owner of a site at 313 Cl, Banana Island, for illegal dredging activities preparatory to commence building  Speaking on the arrest, the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki said the suspect was arrested following a tip-off by well-meaning Lagosians on the activities of the dredgers which could lead to disaster if not properly handled.  He reiterated the need for anyone intending to commence building construction to abide by the building codes of the State which includes obtaining necessary permits and Authorisation of the property from start to finish.  Arc. A woman has been arrested after allegedly having s£x with a dog and posting “extremely graphic” videos of the ab#se on social media.  Denise Frazier, 19, is charged with unnatural interc0urse and aggravated cru£lty to an animal.  Police in Mississippi say they were alerted to a video involving a woman and a male dog by a concerned resident who watched the video on social media.  “In my 17 years in law enforcement, this is one of the most disturbing cases that I’ve ever investigated,” Sergeant J.D. GUNMEN KIDNAP FORMER NASARAWA DEPUTY GOVERNOR 7th April, 2023  A former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, has been kidnapped, last night in his village Rinza, near Wamba, the headquarters of Wamba LGA of the state. The incident according to a family source occurred some few minutes to 12 midnight of yesterday, Thursday. The source said the kidnappers gained entrance through the fence and broke into the house through his wife’s window and whisked him away. He said the kidnappers attempted kidnapping the Professor three times, “the third one they killed one of his cousin brothers and this time around they succeeded” he said. “The wife came in for Easter and they broke in to the house through her widow and took him away. Abba Dalori spent years designing and building a car that can fly as well as drive on the road.  His invention uses two powerful rotors on the top and back of the car to lift it off the ground.  Abducted retired Immigration officer found dead 7 April 2023  A retired Immigration Officer, Mr. Jacob Agada, has been killed by suspected Gunmen in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday night around Agaya hotels, Ombi 2, Lafia. Mr. Agada was reportedly returning to his house at about 9 pm when the hoodlums abducted him. His lifeless body was later discovered in the area. A family friend of the deceased confirmed the incident, expressing sadness and regret over the loss of their loved one. The friend revealed that Mr. Agada was kidnapped by the hoodlums who were hiding not far from his gate. The retired officer lived just beside Agaya hotels. The friend also called for prayers for the departed and an end to the insecurity challenges in the Ombi II, Danka, and Kwandare axis in recent times. The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, also confirmed the incident during a phone conversation.

Arase warns police officers against delving in land matters, debt collection 7 April 2023  The Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr Solomon Arase, has warned police officers against delving into land matters, debt collection and issues that should be handled through alternative dispute resolution. Arase, a former Inspector General of Police, gave the warning when he received in audience the national leadership of the Police Community Relations Committee in Abuja. The Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja. According to the statement, Arase promised to remain a strong advocate of community partnership in policing, saying he was worried over the increasing cases of human rights abuses in the police.  India arrests Nigerian for defrauding women on dating app 7 April 2023  A Nigerian, alongside three Indians, has been arrested in India for allegedly cheating several Indian women on matrimonial applications, the Indian police said on Thursday. The Investigators said the suspects posed as doctors, engineers and information technology professionals to connect with women on several matrimonial apps and took money from them on the pretext of clearing customs fees for gifts. The suspects were identified as Chibaka alias Tall Issa of Nigeria and Delhi residents Aman Kumar (26), Rahul Singh (28), and Santosh Kumar (38), police said. The cybercrime team of Gurugram police disclosed that they recovered 25 mobile phones, 65 ATM cards, 34 cheque books and 12 passbooks from the fraudsters. Brain Drain: Bill To Tie Doctors Down In Nigeria For 5 Years Before Getting License Pass Second Reading The representatives have passed legislation to deter Nigerian medical professionals, such as doctors and dentists, from moving overseas to practice  until they have completed mandatory 5 years services. The bill is said to discourage Nigerian-trained medical or dental practitioners from migrating without first practicing in Nigeria has passed its second reading in the House of Representatives. Ganiyu Johnson (APC-Lagos) sponsored a bill that restricts Nigerian-trained medical practitioners from obtaining full license’s to depart the country until they have completed at least five years of service. This was contained in a tweet posted via the official handle of the House of Representatives on Thursday. He said the bill is part of the measures by the Nigerian government to halt the increasing number of medical doctors leaving Nigeria for other countries in search of ‘greener pastures’.
