 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                       Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode today thursday said the State Government would deploy drone made by the staff and students of Lagos State Polytechnic {LASPOTECH} to effectively carry out aerial security surveillance across the State.Speaking at the 25th Convocation Ceremony of the institution held at the main campus in Ikorodu,Governor Ambode commended the staff and students for being innovative,saying that government would do everything within its power to promote and fund the drone project to encourage them for the achievement.Governor Ambode also approved the construction of new Main Auditorium,Administrative Block,renovation of the Sports Complex and general facelift to the facilities within the campus environment including equipping and furnishing of the newly built School of Technology Building {Block A}. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS APPROVED THE AWARD OF A $470 MILLION CONTRACT FOR ABUJA WATER SUPPLY PROJECT.

              The Nigerian government has approved the award of a $470 million contract for the greater Abuja Water Supply Project to provide water for residents of the Nigerian federal capital.The Federal Executive Council approved the contact at its meeting presided over by the Acting President,Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Mohammed Bello,who briefed State House Correspondents on the outcome of the meeting,said the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project,which was one of the three memoranda his ministry presented at the meeting,was aimed at providing potable water supply to greater part of the Abuja.''This project,which is being funded by the China EXIM Bank,is to provide water to what we call loops 1,2,5 and 6,''Bello said,explaining that the overall master plan for Abuja has 10 loops out which looks which ''loops 3 and 4 are already operational,providing water to Garki,Asokoro and the Central Business District''.                 Justice Gabrial Lolawole of the Federal High Court,Abuja,has adjourned to Aprial 4,2017 for continuation of trial of Emeka Mba,a former Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission,NBC,who is facing a 15-count charge of money laundering and procurement fraud to the tune of N2.8billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC. Mba is on trial alongside a former Director of Finance of NBC,Patrick Areh; Basil Udotai {trading in the name and style of Technology Adviser} and Babatunde Amure {trading in name and style of Divine Partners} The adjournment of the case followed the withdrawal of an objection raised by I.F Chude,counsel to the second defendant {Areh}, against the admissibility of Areh's statement which the prosecuting counsel,Prince Ben Ikani sought to tender as evidence at the last sitting,February 28.While Chude argued that the statement was involuntarily obtained and should be rejected,Ikani urged the court to discountenance it.
