  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. KING CHARLES LED THE NATION FOR THE ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY. (PHOTOS).

The King today led the nation for the annual #RemembranceSunday commemorations at the National Service at the Cenotaph. In a tradition started by King George V in 1920, who unveiled the Cenotaph, His Majesty laid a wreath at the Cenotaph. Wreaths were also laid The Prince of Wales, The Earl of Wessex and The Princess Royal. A wreath was laid on behalf of The Queen Consort, who joined The Princess of Wales, The Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and Sir Tim Laurence to watch the service from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office balcony. A tradition of every Remembrance Sunday is the Royal British Legion March Past of 10,000 Veterans - this year The Earl of Wessex took the salute. More photos below.

Bandits Demand N10m To Release Victim’s Corpse In Kaduna Bandits have demanded N10 million as ransom before releasing the corpse of one of their victims, Obadiah Ibrahim, who they kidnapped a few weeks ago in Kaduna State. Brother to the victim, Kefas Obadiah, said the bandits had collected N3 million but still refused to release the corpse of the victim abducted in October. “Ibrahim had died on Monday and they informed us on Thursday. We asked for his corpse and they said we should pay them N10 million if we wanted the corpse, (that) they’d not work for us free of charge,” he said. Obadiah while narrating the family ordeal, added, “My brother’s name is Obadiah Ibrahim. He was kidnapped in early October…in Sabon Gaya on his way back from Abuja to Kaduna. “Although I wasn’t the one communicating with the bandits, there was a negotiator. KDSG Security Update: Sunday 13th November, 2022.  Troops clear camps, repel attack, neutralize two terrorists in Chikun LGA.  - Fleeing bandits kill three locals  Troops of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of today at Kankomi, Chikun LGA, repelled an attack by dozens of bandits and subsequently neutralized one of the attackers, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The Kaduna State Government was informed of the development in feedback which captured the bravery exhibited by the troops in overpowering the bandits. The attackers made an attempt to infiltrate the location housing the troops. The vigilant troops in response engaged them in a fierce gun duel which lasted for over an hour. This resulted in the elimination of one of the terrorists, who was wearing military camouflage combat gear as can be seen in the attached photo. Gov. Zulum Re-opened Gamboru Cattle Market After 6 Years. ~ Maiduguri /Gamboru Ngala road to be constructed next year.  The Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum Re-opened the Gamboru Cattle Market after 6 years of closure due to insurgency. Gov. Zulum in his speech stated that, with the glory of Allah and for the benefits of mankind to we Re-opened Gamboru Cattle Market for business.   Gov. Zulum urged the cattle business owners and the community to cooperate with security agencies and abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the law of the land.  The Governor also assured that the construction of the Maiduguri/Gamboru Ngala road will begin next year In Sha Allah for easy transportation of goods and services. Gamboru cattle market is one of the biggest in the area and it is generating revenue to the local government and the nation at large.  15-year-old recreates al-Masjid al-Ḥarām in Makkah  A 15-year-old boy, Aji Bukar Haziki, from Maiduguri, Borno State, has created a model of Masjid al-Ḥarām, otherwise known as Great Mosque, Islam’s holiest site in Makkah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. One more photo below.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Opposition Senator Janice Allen has offered a mixed view as to the “real state of the Jamaican nation", describing it as one “whose people are among the most creative, most resilient and most inspired in the world, while at the same time, a nation whose people are among the most troubled, vulnerable, and dispossessed in the world”. Anambra Ministry Of Health, WHO, Others Train Medical Doctors On Cervical Cancer Prevention, Treatment The Anambra State Ministry of Health in partnership with World Health Organisation (WHO) and Clinton Assess Health Initiative (CHAI) have trained medical doctors on cervical cancer prevention and treatment. Speaking during the three day training exercise in Awka, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that cervical cancer is a silent killer disease that can be prevented through early screening, detection and treatment, as one may not know about the disease until it starts to spread.  The health commissioner said that they are working with the WHO to help the ministry with the HPV vaccines by next year, so that Ndi Anambra will be vaccinated against the disease. Dr. Obidike noted that screening tests and treatment will be done at Ekwulobia, Enugwu-Ukwu, and Umueri General Hospitals and at some designated Primary Healthcare Centres including hard to reach areas of the state. UNIZIK: Prof Ikpeze Emerges Dean, Faculty Of Law A renowned academia, and scholar in International Law and Jurisprudence, Professor Ogugua Ikpeze Ph.D., FCIARB, FICMC, has been elected as the new Dean, Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK). Prof. Ikpeze who has served under different capacities including being a former Assistant General Secretary of NBA, 2002-2004, Chairperson FIDA, Anambra State Branch, amongst many others, has many contributions in the sphere of International Law and Jurisprudence. Prof. Ikpeze emerged unopposed as the Dean of the Faculty of Law after the Faculty Board unanimously ratified her nomination as the sole candidate for the election. Prof Ogugua Ikpeze hails from Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state. She is Married to Prof Okey Ikpeze, a professor of medicine and one time provost of college of medicine Of the same university.
