 Al Qaeda-linked insurgents establish check points around capital, call on Malians to rise up Al Qaeda-linked insurgents have called on Malians to ‌rise up against the military-led government and transition to Sharia law, as multiple security sources said the group had set up checkpoints around the capital and seized a northern town. The latest incidents come just days after Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) launched unprecedented assaultsacross the country ​on April 25 in coordination with the Tuareg-dominated rebel group the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA). Bases throughout the landlocked African ​country and near the capital Bamako were hit in those attacks, which killed Mali's defence minister. ⁠The town of Kidal was also seized.                             The bomb exploded today,mid afternoon in Biu.Biu is 180 kilometres south of Borno,state capital of Maiduguri.The female suicide bomber blew up herself in a crowded market,and atleast seven people were killed in the blast.Eye witness said ''The market was filled with hundreds of buyers and traders when a van loaded with goods and people,drove into the premises.Nobody suspected anything because it is normal for vehicles to set p to that level,but as the driver was about to stop,the bomb exploded and atleast seven people were seen dead''.
