 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.                     According to Alhaji Lai Mohammed,who is the All Progressives congress {APC } National Publicity Secretary,issued a statement today friday said that OPC members were sighted at Owu-Elepe in Ikorodu Local Government Area today friday morning changing into fake police and army uniforms.He said the ex-militants who have been issued with fake military uniforms and deployed to some areas of Lagos state especially the Lekki-Ajah axis,to forment trouble.He said the ex-militants are moving around in unmarked private vehicles,and their assignments are being facilitated by security agencies.Well if you ask me oh,as far as the Nigerian police or Army have not raised any alarm on these new development,then i will not believe because since they said they saw,may be real evidence like photograph would have helped to buttress his point.This kind of propaganda should be discouraged at these point,especially a day to the elections.
