Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country.  New bride, 5 bridesmaids killed in Niger car crash No fewer than 13 people, including a newlywed bride, five bridesmaids, her brother-in-law, and six others, have lost their lives in a tragic incident that took place near Lukoro in Edati, Niger State. The devastating accident, according to reports, took place on Friday evening and has been attributed to a combination of speeding and reckless overtaking. The collision involved two vehicles: an ash Toyota Corolla travelling from Mokwa to Bida and a commercial Nissan bus heading from Minna, the Niger State capital, to Ogbomosho in Oyo State. Tsukwan Kumar, the Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), disclosed that the crash claimed the lives of eight female adults, four male adults, and one male child.  Mob nabs, beats 28-year-old suspected thief burgling shop in Delta An angry mob on Sunday apprehended and severely beat a twenty-eight-year-old suspected thief who was allegedly caught burgling a shop along Airport Road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. A passerby witnessed the suspect in the act of burgling a woman’s shop and raised an alarm, attracting the attention of security personnel from a nearby popular hotel.  Fire guts two Anambra schools Two secondary schools in Nawfia, located in the Njikoka local government area of Anambra State were ravaged by for at the weekend. The affected institutions were Community Secondary School and Comprehensive Secondary School, both situated in Nawfia. Reports indicate that the fires, which broke out in the evening, originated from a nearby bush and spread to the school buildings. The Nation gathered that no life was lost in both fire outbreaks. Confirming the incident, State Fire Chief, Martin Agbili said his men battled the fire with assistance of some individuals who were there before their arrival. He urged school principals, headmasters, and headmistresses whose schools are near bushes to devise strategies for clearing the vegetation at a distance from their premises. 6 die in Borno explosion 28th Jan 2024  An improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) detonated in the Gubio local government area of Borno state, resulting in the tragic deaths of six Quranic school pupils popularly known as Almajirai in Hausa parlance. This is even as the Chairman of Gubio Local government area, Hon Mali Gubio Mali said, seven people were killed with two unidentified mutilated bodies suspected to be suicide bombers. The incident took place on Saturday, January 27, 2023, when a metal scavenger unknowingly collected and stored various metallic items in a building near a Tsangaya school. Unfortunately, little did the scavenger know that among the collected metal was an abandoned undetonated IED, which exploded at approximately 2 pm, claiming the lives of the children and causing severe bodily harm.  A group of St. Louis teens meet every Wednesday and have lunch with the grandmother of their deceased friend.  Sam Crowe was a sophomore at Bishop Duboug Highschool when he and his friends started a "lunch club". After trying several venues Sam decided his grandmother was a better cook than any of the places they had tried.  The group shifted gears and began eating at his grandmother's every Wednesday!  Sadly, Sam Crowe was killed by a hit and run driver in July of 2022, however his group of friends still continue to meet at his grandmother's home every Wednesday sharing lunch as well as fond memories of Sam... This is such a touching story. Rest in peace, Sam.

 Over 3m Girls Benefitted From $500m World Bank Education Grant — FG The Federal Government of Nigeria has disclosed that no fewer than 3 million girls across the country have so far benefited from the World Bank’s $500 million loan to Nigeria, under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.  Minister of State for Education, Honourable Yusuf Sununu, made this known at a programme marking 2023 International Day for the Girl Child celebration on Wednesday in Abuja. He noted that the AGILE project has brought about substantial increase in enrolment of girls and retention in schools across the country. He further disclosed that while more than 90,298 girls have received financial incentives (scholarships) to help them stay in school, about 199,921 girls have received scholarships in the first 7 implementing states.

 US Professor Accidentally Shot Dead By Security Bidding Him ‘Goodbye’ In Osun  A tragic incident struck in Ejigbo, Osun state when a United States Professor and politician, Richard Adeoriokin, was accidentally shot dead by a local security guard while bidding him farewell after an event. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Saturday along Inisha Road of Ejigbo, following the conclusion of a public function attended by Professor Adeoriokin, his political associates, and the son of Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oyeyode Oyesosi. DYSLEXIA: LASODA ADVOCATES GRASSROOTS INITIATIVES  The General Manager of Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal has emphasised the need for grassroots campaigns by disability-focused NGOs towards achieving a shift in societal perceptions of Persons With Disabilities.  Speaking during a Zoom meeting with Dyslexia Nigeria, a non-profit organisation that supports individuals with dyslexia, led by its Managing Director, Dr. Adrienne Tikolo, the General Manager addressed the lack of awareness around dyslexia, stressing the importance of engaging communities for a more informed approach to cognitive conditions.
