The PDP is alarmed by reports of how the terrorists invaded the church, opened fire on worshippers, freely used explosives within the premises, murdered our compatriots in cold blood and left unchallenged. NAUB MATRICULATES NEW STUDENTS  The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) held its fourth matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the 2022/2023 Academic Session on Friday, 3rd June 2022. The matriculation was to induct new students into the University, swear them on an oath of good behaviour and allegiance and formally admit them into the University as bonafide Students with all rights and obligations. Declaring the ceremony open, the Vice Chancellor Professor Kyari Mohammed expressed that the University was conceived and based on the good ethos and values of the Nigerian Army, which are discipline, orderliness and respect for constituted authority, as well as the universal values of the university; which is the freedom to hold and profess divergent opinions. ANAMBRA TEACHERS RECRUITMENT 2022: KEEPING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT The attention of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has been drawn to reports and insinuations making the rounds on the Teachers Recruitment examinations held in the state on Saturday, June 4, 2022. The test was conducted in line with the cardinal objective of Prof Soludo and his administration of strengthening and repositioning the education sector in the state. It tallies with the conviction of the Governor that education remains a veritable equipment for enhanced living and building a better society. To ensure transparency in the exercise, the Ministry of Education charged with the responsibility, received over 40,000 applications. The ministry listed about 31,800 qualified applicants after reviews. This saddens inexplicably, and I mourn the dead from this very unfortunate event. Also, my thoughts and my prayers goes to the victims and their families, the Catholic Church, and the government of Ondo state. We will not cower to the whims of elements who lurk in darkness to unleash inconceivable wickedness on our citizens. We will keep standing against evil and Nigeria will win. As the President as charged, emergency agencies are to swing into action to bring succor to the wounded. We stand in utter solidarity with the people of Owo and Ondo state in this terrible moment. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, OWO, ONDO STATE NIGERIA It is Pentecost Sunday, a time every Catholic is expected to be in Church to commemorate the Solemnity. It is so sad to say that while the Holy Mass was going on, men of unknown origin, wielding guns attacked St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State. Many are feared dead and many others injured and the Church violated. The identity of the perpetrators remains unknow while the situation has left the community devastated. However, for now, security agencies have been deployed to the community to relatively handle the situation. At this point in the history of our dear country Nigeria, we need God’s ultimate intervention to restore peace and tranquillity. Meanwhile, all the Priests in the parish are safe and none was kidnapped as the social media has it. The Bishop of the Diocese is also with them at this trying time. POLICE ARREST TWO ARMED ROBBERS ON APONGBON BRIDGE Recover motorcycle, laptop, other items Officers of jora Badia Division of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested one Mustapha Mohammed 'm aged 37 and Abdullahi Buba m aged 20 while escaping with their loot after robbing some Lagosians. Karista Khan 14-year-old Cameroonian and Nigerian artist has won the prestigious kid singing competition, The Voice Kids 2022, which took place in Belgium. According to reports, Karista in the course of the competition showcased a stunning performance of “speak the name” by “Karyn Howthome”That was at the knockout stage of the competition   The Cameroonian and Nigerian artist was given the sum of 10,000 Euros as cash prize. She emerged winner out of over 50 kids with whom she began the competition. She won ‘the voice kids’ Belgium 2022. And this is the first time in history that a black child competed with Gospel  music and won.
