 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Gov. Soludo Visits Erosion Control Drainage Built By Philantropist, Okwuosa.  Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has reiterated the need for every 'onye Anambra" to participate fully in the development of their communities for the overall good of the state.  Governor Soludo was speaking at Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, when he visited a 1.7km erosion control drainage system built by a philanthropist and indigene of the community, Sir Emeka Okwuosa.  The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, commended Sir Emeka for keying into the development vision of the present administration, noting that the project will go very far in curbing the erosion challenges in the community.  Others dignitaries at the event were the Commissioner for Local Government, Mr. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, and the Transition Committee Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr. Chimezie Obi.  More photos below.

International Albinism Awareness Day: Stakeholders Seeks Better Deal For People with Albinism The Anambra State Albinism Association has joined the global community to mark 2023 International Albinism Awareness Day.  The day is aimed at creating awareness on different challenges facing people with albinism and to curb marginalization and stigmatization against them. The international Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD) was instituted by the United Nations General Assembly on the 18th of December 2014, and officially designated June 13th every year as the day for the celebration. EFCC Arraigns Businessman, Company for Alleged N7m Fraud The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, arraigned one Taiwo Oladipo Amos and his company, Olatamos Technologies Ltd, before Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State on one court charge bordering on stealing. Amos is alleged to have through his company defrauded Teamicabenation Ltd of the sum of N7,264.000 which was meant for the purchase of bitcoin. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Consequently, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Audu asked for the remand of the defendant and a date for trial to commence. The Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, has intercepted a male Yako Jiji, 21 years from Benue state and 2 female, Rosabeth UD 24 years and Beneta Udaje 19 years from Delta state going to Libya. While briefing newsmen handing over the victims of human tracfficking to NAPTIP, the state Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service, Rabí Bashir Nuhu, said the three victims were intercepted at Yauri border post by men of the Command. June 13, 2023 Following pressures from different political quarters in Ondo State, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has formally written to notify the State House of Assembly that he is on leave and that his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, should act as governor. The Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, in a statement, said Mr Akeredolu embarked on the 21-day leave for medical treatment abroad from 7th June and that he will be away until 6th July. Court Sends Nine Internet Fraudsters to Jail in Benin City Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City on Tuesday June 13, 2023, convicted and sentenced nine internet fraudsters to jail.
