The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Anambra Committee Finds Mmesoma Guilty Of Forging JAMB Result, Recommends More Punishment  The Anambra state Committee of Inquiry set up to investigate Mmesoma Ejikeme’s case has found her Guilty of Forging JAMB result. The committee in a report released yesterday and titled REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF INQUIRY ON MMESOMA EJIKEME MATTER recommended more Punishment, noting that she manipulated the result using her phone. TROOPS RESCUE 24 KIDNAP VICTIMS, ELIMINATE ABDUCTORS IN SHOOT OUT Troops of 223 Battalion, operating under Sector 1 of Joint Task Force, North West Operations Hadarin Daji have in a rescue operation conducted in the early hours of today 7 July 2023 rescued 24 kidnap victims, including a child, after a shootout with notorious bandits at Kabugu Lamba; an abandoned village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state, North West Nigeria. THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM Reports reaching Government is that the appearance of armed masked men in Sienna buses this morning in parts of Onitsha caused some panic among the people. Truth of the matter is that those they saw were men of  the Anambra State Vigilante Group (AVG). Following the mild tension and anxiety among the people, Government directed the Department of State Security (DSS) and the 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha to join in strengthening the patrol. Normalcy has since returned to the commercial city. Offices and shops have since reopened. The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma who visited the site said that the State Government is moving immediately to arrest the situation and prevent further devastation. PRESS RELEASE 07TH JULY, 2023 The editor, CRIME BULLETIN  CULPABLE HOMICIDE: Acted on information received on 5th July 2023 at about 2340hrs, the detectives attached to the Township Divisional Police headquarters, Bauchi have arrested one Maimunatu Sulaiman 'F' Aged 21yrs old of Kofar Dumi area of Bauchi state for allegedly culpable homicide.   While receiving the information from their end, the detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer immediately rushed to the crime scene at the address and took both the victim and the suspect to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi for medical attention. GOVERNOR ADELEKE APPOINTS HIS DAUGHTER ADENIKE, AS COMMISSIONER IN OSUN 7th July, 2023 On Friday, July 7, the Osun State House of Assembly confirmed the list of 25 commissioner-nominees forwarded by Governor Adeleke for screening and confirmation. During the plenary session, the Assembly Speaker, Adewale Egbedun announced the names, confirming the inclusion of the governor’s biological daughter, Adenike Adeleke, and a family member named Moruf Adeleke. Egbedun said he received a letter from the governor for the confirmation of the nominees in line with sections 192 (2) and 196(1) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (amended). The speaker said 25 names for the position of commissioners and another request for the appointment of 25 Special Advisers were received from the governor. COURT ORDERS DSS TO RELEASE OCHE, GAJIR, BENUE LG CHAIRMEN 7th July, 2023     The Federal High Court in Makurdi has issued an order directing the Department of State Security Service (DSS) to release the four local government chairmen who have been detained in Benue State. The Presiding Judge, Justice Abdu Dogo, granted the order while ruling on an ex-parte application brought by counsel to the chairmen, Joseph Oche. Veronica Gajir (Ushongo), Alfred Atera (Katsina-ala), James Oche (Ado), and Mike Usah (Guma) have been in detention since responding to an invitation from the DSS earlier this week, with the reasons for their detention yet to be disclosed. As per the court’s order, the chairmen are to be released on bail effective immediately. Failure to comply with the order would require the DSS to present justifiable cause on Monday, July 10th, 2023. Six Suspected Cultists killed in Rivers Community Rivers State Police Command has arrested six Kidnappers and killed six other suspected cultists at Obelle town in Emohua Local Government Area of the State terrorizing Emohua Local Government Area section of the East West road. The Commissioner of Police,  Nwonyi Emeka  in a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt said operatives of Anti-cultism and Tactical units stormed the hideout of a gang led by one Uchechukwu Daniel and on sighting the Police, the hoodlums opened fire. Man kills lion with bare hands in Benue 7th Jul 2023  A 53-year-old man, identified as Mr Iorver Udele, from Ajio clan in Shangev-Ya district of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State on Friday reportedly killed a Lion that attacked him with bare hands at the Ngokugh mountains. Rivers police arrest suspected criminal gang leader, recover human skull, arms 7th Jul 2023  The Police in Rivers State have arrested the leader of a notorious criminal gang simply identified as Ojukwu and recovered a human skull during a raid of his hideouts in the Khana Local Government Area of the state.
