The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. NYSC Responds To Mbah’s Suit, Furnishes Court With Evidence Against Governor The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has replied to the suit brought against it by the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, over his controversial discharge certificate. They submitted to the court documentary proof affirming its stand that it did not issue the certificate in Mbah’s possession. REMI TINUBU ASSUMES OFFICE AS FIRST LADY The wife of President Bola Tinubu, Mrs Oluremi has assumed office as Nigeria’s First Lady on Monday. Mrs Tinubu who arrived at the First Lady’s wing accompanied by her security aides, was received by the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr Tijjani Umar, and other Heads of Units in the Office. She was thereafter guided on a tour of offices within the First Lady’s wing, comprising the Administrative, ICT, Catering, Media and Protocol Units. Oluremi Tinubu holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Ife and has undertaken several courses in some higher institutions. More photos below.

JOHESU SUSPENDS STRIKE FOR 21 DAYS  Following the meeting held with President Bola Tinubu on Monday, the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations have suspended its indefinite strike for 21 days. The Acting National Secretary, Matthew Ajirotu, made this known in a text message sent to The Punch, adding that the president promised to approve their demands.  “JOHESU has just suspended its strike with a caveat to review it after 21 days. “We met President Tinubu today at a 1-hour parley and he promised to give approval to the demands after further consultations with appropriate quarters in government”, the message read.

 I was offered N71 million to withdraw case against my husband's murderer- Widow The widow of a Master’s student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife, Timothy Adegoke, said she rejected the N71 million offered to her to drop her pursuit of the prosecution of his murderers. Bolatito Adegoke said this in an interview with The Nation newspaper on Saturday. Her husband went missing after lodging in Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on a trip for his post-graduate programme at the university. His body was later found in a shallow grave in a bush in Ile-Ife. The owner of the hotel, Rahmon Adedoyin and two members of his staff were convicted last week for the murder and sentenced to death by the Chief Judge of Osun State, Oyebola Ojo. N2bn Fraud Trial: EFCC To Appeal Oronsaye’s Acquittal The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will appeal the judgment of the Federal High Court Abuja, which today acquitted a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, HoS, Mr. Stephen Oronsaye of the N2bn money laundering charge brought against him and others by the Commission.  In dismissing the charge, Justice Inyang Ekwo held that the Commission failed to establish the charges against the defendants. However, the Commission believes the trial judge erred by overlooking the evidence of the 21 witnesses called by the prosecution in the course of the trial as well as the confessional statement of one of the defendants, Osarenkhoe Afe. It has therefore decided to challenge the judgment at the Court of Appeal. Okoroafor was standing trial for killing his choir mistress, Orlunma Nwagba, who he allegedly impregnated. He was also facing murder charges for the killing of Orlunma’s friend, Chigozie Ezenwa, and her 11 months old baby girl, Cresabel, on December 11, 2017, in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
