 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Madiebo The remains of the the late Biafran War Hero, General Alexander Atta Madiebo have been ushered into Saint Paul's Anglican Church, Umuokpu Awka, venue for the funeral Service. Within and outside the church premises, security agencies which include the military,police, road safety officials were stationed strategically to give the needed security to the event. Health Ministry Rescues Two Auto Crash Victims  Two persons involved in a road accident that occurred at the Amawbia flyover axis of Enugu --Onitsha expressway have been rescued by a team from the State Ministry of Health Ambulance Service. The accident which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 25tth August 2022 was attributed to reckless driving by a driver of an articulated vehicle resulting to a head collision with another truck with yet to be identified registration number. One of the drivers of the articulated vehicles sustained a severe injury and was rushed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, where he is currently receiving treatment while the second driver is relatively stable. Although,the identities of the victims have not been ascertained, an eyewitness said the accident was caused by loss of control by one of the drivers. A Christian corp member, Jeremiah Shimasaan serving in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital has constructed an ablution point and renovated a three-unit toilet facility in a mosque. He also constructed and installed a suggestion box at the main entrance of the Zamfara State Radio and Television Services administrative block. The 25-year-old corp Member serving at the Zamfara State Radio and Television Services said the idea of the project is to promote religious tolerance among Nigerians. Shimasaan, who is of Benue origin, noted that the decision was moved by his desire to cushion the stressful effects of getting clean drinking water, for toilet use (conveniences), and Ablution, especially for the Muslim ummah during prayers. GOC 1 DIVISION RESCUES KIDNAP VICTIMS IN BIRNIN GWARI The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army Maj Gen Taoreed Lagbaja accompanied by a team of operational commanders and operatives have rescued three kidnap victims, while on an Operational cum inspection tour in Kaduna state on Thursday 25 August 2022. The GOC and his team rescued the victims from a group of armed kidnappers in Manini village, along Pole Wire - Birnin Gwari road, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna state.  The Kidnappers had abducted the victims and were taking off, when they were confronted by the GOC's team. The hot exchange of fire that followed subdued the kidnappers, compelling them to scamper in disarray with gunshot wounds into nearby forest, abandoning their abductees. The rescued victims, comprising two adult males and an elderly woman have been conveyed to Kaduna, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
