 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

         The Nigerian Government has warned parents against sending their children to universities in Northern Cyprus over the incessant and mysterious killing of blacks. Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, gave the warning on Monday when she received in her office a delegation led by Justice Amina Bello, mother of a Nigerian student, Ibrahim Khaleel, who was allegedly killed in inexplicable circumstances in that country. Dabiri-Erewa said that it was too risky to send children to schools there as hundreds of Nigerian students had been killed there mysteriously without any conclusive investigations carried out. She said, “The death of Ibrahim Khaleel should be the tipping point to stop the killing of our children anywhere in the world, particularly Northern Cyprus. It is not only Ibrahim.          During my tour of the South and after a long and successful press conference in Calabar, Cross Rivers state, a journalist put up his hand for the last question and said, "Well we do not know who is bankrolling you". This is not a question but an assertion and an insult. And if this insulting ASSERTION were made before Trump or OBJ I know how they would have reacted. Below is my response and I have no apology to offer for it. The young man apologised to me during the press conference and sent his apologies to me after the conference. I have accepted his apologies in good faith and moved on. I have always had respect for journalists and I always will. Those of them that know me or have worked with or for me over the last 30 years can attest to that. However there is a distinction between asking a question and offering a gratuitous insult .          Justice I.M Sami of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced two oil thieves to one year imprisonment each for illegal dealing in petroleum products. The convicts, Friday David and Ikechukwu Utobo, were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt’s zonal office on August 18,2020 on one-count separate charge bordering on illegal dealing in petroleum  products.          The Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, arraigned one Gabriel Chizoba Ikpenwa and his wife, Lillian Nkechi Ikpenwa before Justice Archibong Archibong of Akwa Ibom State High Court, Uyo, for fraud. The couple was arraigned alongside a Cooperative Society, Easycash Multipurpose, owned by the first accused Mr. Ikpenwa on two-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money  by false pretence to the tune of N450,000.00 (Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
