EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

JOHN TRAVOLTA MOURNS GREASE CO STAR 'OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN ' AS SHE PASSED ON AT THE AGE OF 73.(PHOTOS).#RIP

Massively famous for her role as Sandy alongside fellow actor John Travolta in the hit Musical movie Grease! But after a 30-year battle with breast cancer, Olivia Newton-John has passed away. Her rep confirmed the news, saying Olivia "died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning 8th August 2022 surrounded by family and friends." She was only 73 years old. Thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time  R.I.P. Olivia.    Her co star John Travolta wrote on social media.  johntravolta: " My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. we will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!".  

AMOTEKUN INTERCEPTS ANOTHER SET OF 168 SUSPECTED INVADERS.(PHOTOS).

The Ondo State Security Network (popularly known as Amotekun) has intercepted a total of 320 persons suspected to be invaders as they were moving into the state from the northern part of the country. The Amotekun Corps made the interceptions in two different operations. The first was on 4 August when they found at least 152 persons around 6 a.m. during a stop and search along Akure-Ado-Ekiti road. A fresh interception of a group of 168 persons was made on Sunday along with nine kidnap suspects. The drivers of the trucks conveying the alleged invaders claimed they were coming from Abuja, Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States to Ondo State. More photos below.

LASG LIFTS SUSPENSION OF PLANNING APPROVALS IN BANANA ISLAND, OSBORNE FORESHORE SCHEMES The Lagos State Government has lifted the suspension order on granting Planning Permits for land extension into the lagoon at Banana Island and Osborne Foreshore Schemes. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, said the lifting of the suspension was predicated on the projection of the new boundaries of 20-200 meters from the original boundary of the Banana Island and Foreshore Estate, and 100 meters from the original boundary of Osborne Foreshore Schemes I and II into the Lagos Lagoon.

160 Million Nigeriams At Risk Of Yellow Fever -WHO The World Health Organization, WHO, says out of Nigeria’s population of around 200 million people,160 million people are at risk of yellow fever making up around 25% of all the people at risk of the disease in Africa.   According to the Medical Officer for the World Health Organization, Nigeria, Dr Anne Eudes Jean Baptiste, yellow fever is a virus transmitted by infected mosquitoes and it is dangerous because a small percentage of patients will go through a more toxic phase of the disease as they will experience fever, have system failure, mainly in the kidney and liver. She said half of them may die within 7 to 10 days, after experiencing bleeding from the mouth, nose and eyes. First Vice President of the Nigeria Bar Association, John Aikpokpo-Martins, has dismissed reports making rounds that Beauty Turkura, a disqualified housemate of the Big Brother reality show, season 7, is a lawyer. He claimed that the former beauty queen's name 'Beauty Tukura' did not come up in the Roll of Legal Practitioners in the Supreme Court and the Nigerian Bar Association, except she used another  name. This comes less than 48 hours after Beauty Tukura, a former housemate of the show and an acclaimed lawyer, was evicted from the popular reality show for fighting with a co-participant. EFCC Arrests 3 Internet Fraud Suspects at Ilorin International Airport As part of its renewed onslaught against corruption and illegal movement of cash through the nation’s airports, operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC have arrested three internet fraud suspects at the Ilorin International Airport. They are Olawale Ipadeola, Opeyemi Badmus and Wasiu Babatunde. The suspects were arrested on Monday, August 8, 2022 except for Wasiu who was arrested on Saturday, August 6, 2022 following actionable intelligence. Two of the suspects (Olawale and Opeyemi), flew in from Lagos around 1156hours into the waiting hands of the operatives of the EFCC at the airport. Preliminary investigations have shown that the suspects possessed several fraudulent documents on their devices.

FG Postpones Implementation Of Telecoms, Beverage Taxes To 2023 The Federal Government through the Budget Office of the Federation has revealed that it will begin the implementation of its proposed excise duties on telecommunication services and beverages in 2023. This is despite backlashes from the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. Discussing the tax which is under the purview of the Nigeria Customs Service, the government said the NCS would introduce frameworks for recovering duties, taxes, and appropriate fees from transactions conducted over electronic networks. The controller of Corrections FCT Command Ahmed Musa Ahmed acting upon the directives of the controller General also released three other inmates who were granted pardon from the Suleja custodial centre.
