 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Three arrested for rape and forceful initiation of a 15-year-old girl to cult group Men of Ogun State police command on June 30 arrested three members of the dreaded Eiye confraternity, who forcefully initiated a young girl (name withheld) into their cult group after they allegedly gang-raped her. A statement released by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, said the suspects, Daniel Njoku a.k.a Agege, Damilare Ogundiran, and Adebayo Olamilekan, were arrested following a report lodged at Ajuwon divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim, who reported that she sent her 15 years old daughter on an errand at Akute Odo area, but was waylaid on the road by Daniel Njoku, who forcefully took her to his gang at their hideout where the young girl was gang-r@ped, beaten and forcefully initiated into Eiye cult group. 3rd July, 2022.  PRESS STATEMENT  Ogun State Government Commiserates with Labour, Deceased Family over Teacher's Death Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has sympathised with the Organised Labour, the Nigerian Union of Teachers and the family of Mr. Sunday Ogunjimi, a teacher, who died last Friday at the secretariat of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Abeokuta.  In a statement issued on his behalf by the Ogun State Head of Service, Dr Nafiu Aigoro, the governor described the death of the late Comrade as a big loss not only to his immediate family and Labour, but also to the state at large. Abiodun said, “We are pained by the unfortunate death of your colleague, who until his death was a teacher and member of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Odeda. As a workers' loving Government, losing a worker in such a circumstance is so devastating. We pray that God will grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort the family, colleagues and associates he left behind.

GOV. ORTOM'S CONVOY INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT IN ABUJA The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom’s convoy on Sunday was involved in a road accident in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The governor’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Terver Akase, who made this known in a statement on Sunday, said no life was lost in the incident. According to him, the convoy was heading to Benue State after accompanying the governor to Abuja airport when one of the vehicles collided with a golf near Karu Flyover in Nyanya. Evaristus Bassey who shared on Twitter, several photos of a translucent that reportedly appeared at the parish, noted that over 100 people witnessed the event. He wrote: ”On Wednesday 22-6-2022 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in one of our parishes in Calabar, St. Charles Lwanga. It was something more than 100 people witnessed, even a Protestant pastor who came to visit his cousin, the assistant priest. “He took these pictures. The rays around her were too bright for a clear picture. She moved up to the Shrine dedicated to her and then was taken up. “It was amazing, the entire aura around the parish, that evening. She didn’t say anything to anyone. Anambra widows Vow To Curse Anybody Found Working Against Labour Party The widows in Anambra State have vowed to mobilise support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and its senatorial candidate, Victor Umeh, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports. The widows vowed to pronounce a curse on any person or group of persons who would work against the victory of the Labour Party and its candidates in the state in the 2023 general elections. Mr Kwankwaso said Mr Obi being on the ticket of the NNPP as a vice-presidential candidate in 2023 would provide a viable route for the South-East to actualize its presidential ambition in the future. The consignment with a street value of over N4.5billion came from Johannesburg, South Africa on board South African Airways flight on Wednesday 29th June as part of a consolidated cargo that arrived the SAHCO import shed of the Lagos airport. After series of follow up operations that led to the arrest of two freight agents, the actual receiver of the drug consignment, Chike Okeke Eweni who distributes the substance for his South Africa based partner was arrested the following day, Thursday 30th June at a logistics warehouse in Ajao Estate
