 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. Police Arrest Dispatch Rider, One Other Over Stolen Motorcycle    Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a dispatch rider and an accomplice for conspiring to sell a motorcycle belonging to a Lagos-based logistics company. The suspects, Ekele Sunday ‘m’ aged 28, Yakubu Abdurrahman ‘m’ aged 28, and one other, still at large, were arrested in Oke–Koto, Agege, when the RRS operatives, acting on credible intelligence stormed the area.   Investigations revealed that Ekele, after a month of working with the company, connived with Abdurrahman to dispose of the motorcycle, which was procured few days before he was employed.    The three suspects, on sighting the police, took to their heels. Ekele and Abdurrahman were arrested, while the third suspect who escaped is still being trailed. CP Wale Abass has assumed duty as the 21st Commissioner of Police, Delta state Command. The new CP is taking over from AIG Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+, who has been transferred to Lagos State as AIG zone 2. CP. Abass hails from Ede North Local Government Area, Osun State. He holds a  bachelor's degree in philosophy and political science from the University of Lagos. He has a Master Degree in international law and diplomacy also from the University of Lagos. NIGERIAN NAVAL AND CORRECTIONAL SERVICE OFFICERS ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY IN EDO STATE.(PHOTOS).

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a Navy officer, Ibrahim Adamu, 25, and an officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Abdullahi Abdulwahab 26, over alleged armed robbery and car snatching. Spokesperson of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who paraded the suspects on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, said they were arrested in Ekpoma by a crack team of the command based on credible information. According to the PPRO, the suspects attacked the driver of an unregistered C300 Mercedes Benz car in Sapele, Delta State, snatched the car from him and also forced him to transfer a sum of N400,000 to their account. He said the suspects were to take the car to Abuja and sell it when they were arrested by the police in Ekpoma, Edo state. "The suspects have made statements and claimed to be personnel of the Nigerian Navy and Correctional Service respectively.” Nwabuzor said the vehicle and military uniform were also recovered from the suspects. INEC, APC, Tinubu Reject Live Broadcast Of Presidential Election Tribunal  On Tuesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) appeared before the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja to respond to the Peoples Democratic Party’s motion for “an order directing the Court’s Registry and the parties on modalities for admission of media practitioners and their equipment into the courtroom.” Chris Uche SAN, the PDP’s counsel, informed the court that he filed his pre-hearing information sheet on April 27 and has adopted the replies contained therein. However, he requested an urgent ruling on his motion for live transmission dated May 5, saying that he had served all respondents but had yet to receive their reply. “We urge the court to permit the televising of the proceedings, especially at this critical moment in the nation,” Mr Uche pleaded. Sokoto Assembly Pass Bill To Regulate Extravagant Marriage Expenses The Sokoto State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a Bill to regulate marriage expenses in the state. The Bill, sponsored by Alhaji Abubakar Shehu (APC-Yabo) and Faruk Balle (PDP- Gudu), was earlier referred to the House Committee on Religious Affairs. Shehu, who is the chairman of the committee, presented the report of the committee at plenary, which was unanimously adopted and passed into law. The Bill seeks to control extravagant spending on marriage, naming, circumcision and other local ceremonies across the state. Shehu said, while tabling the report, the committee met with necessary stakeholders who made positive contributions which were captured in the Bill. After deliberations at the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, the Bill was unanimously passed by the lawmakers.

Court remands 21-year-old model for allegedly defrauding German man of $220,000 after promising to marry him Justice Yelim Bogoro of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos state has ordered that 21-year-old Nigerian model, Cynthia Chioma Atuonah, who was arrested in April for allegedly defrauding a German of $220,000 be remanded in a Nigerian Correctional Centre.    It was reported that Atuonah was arrested by the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, for allegedly defrauding the 50-year-old German national of $220,000, after promising to marry him. Following her arrest, Atuonah was arraigned before the court on five counts of charges bordering on obtaining by false pretences, fraud and unlawful conversation. The prosecutor, Henry Obiazi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences between January and February 2022. He said the offences contravened Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and Section 18 (3) of the Money Laun

NECO Reschedules 2023 National Entrance Examination into Suleja Academy. The National Examinations Council NECO has rescheduled the twenty twenty three entrance examination that is being conducted for the gifted and talented children into Federal Government Academy Suleja in Niger state. It has been sifted from Saturday the thirteenth of this month to Saturday the tenth of June this year. This is contained in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani. EFCC Arraigns Man For Alleged $5m, N800m Cyber-security Software Investment Scam The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 9, 2023, arraigned one Sennaike Opeoluwa before Justice O.A. Okunuga of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a six-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, forgery and possession of false documents.  Opeoluwa was arraigned alongside his firm, Sennaike Consulting Limited for allegedly fraudulently obtaining the sums of $5 million and N800 million from unsuspecting members of the public. Jury Finds Donald Trump Guilty May 9, 20230 The jury seated in New York has found former President of the United States, Donald Trump, liable of sexual assault in a case involving writer, Jean E. Carroll. The former Elle magazine columnist filed a defamation and battery suit against Trump last year, after a law took effect in New York that gave victims of sexual assault a one-year window to sue their alleged abusers decades after attacks may have occurred. Testifying before the jury last week, Carroll described to jurors how an encounter with Trump in a Manhattan store quickly turned violent. 10 Yahoo Boys Jailed in Enugu for Impersonation The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Enugu Zonal Command, today May 9, 2023 secured the conviction of 10 internet fraudsters before Justice F. Riman of the Federal High Court sitting at Awka, Anambra State.  The fraudster: Chisom Simon Ikenyiri, Ugwuanyi Innocent,  Ifeanyichukwu Nnaji Christian, Matthew Izuchukwu Ofoha, Chimamkpa Godwill Osakwe, Uwandu Bright, Uchechukwu Franklin Nwaodu, Emmanuel Aniweke Mmesoma,  Edeh Kelechukwu bethel  and Onu Chinedu Joshua, were convicted on separate charges bordering on bordering on fraudulent impersonation All ten defendants pleaded guilty when the charges were read to them. "SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved wife, Lady Jane Amechi Udewo Nnamani (nee Onah), on Thursday, 4th May 2023, at Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu, after a brief illness, aged 58.  My children and I are deeply pained by this very sudden, devastating, sad and unfortunate incident. Lady Jane was not just my wife and the mother of our four children, she was my friend, confidante, manager of our home, a great pillar of support to me and our children and the glue that held the family together.
