 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. PUBLIC FINANCE: ADEOSUN TASKS TREASURY MANAGERS ON ACCOUNTABILITY,TRANSPARENCY+WANTS WEAK FINANCE CONTROL ACT REVIEWED.

         The Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has challenged Treasury managers to ensure transparency and accountability in the management and control of the country’s public finance. She gave the advice at the second National Treasury Workshop held in Tinapa, Cross River State. The workshop was attended by Directors of Finance and Accounts in all Federal and State Governments’ Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Heads of Finance and Directors of Internal Audit and other stakeholders in national public finance management. The Minister, who was represented by the Director of Special Projects in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Dr. Mohammed K. Dikwa, emphasized the need for a change in the mindset of Treasury managers in order to reform the basic polity. FG SERVES OVER 246M MEALS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS-V.P OSINBAJO.

        Over 246 million (246,355,190) meals has been served to date to primary pupils across 20 states in the country, since the first meal served in December 2016 under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP). The total figure is expected to reach 313,928,420 meals by the last week of February 2018. Also, the School Feeding Programme now feeds 6,044,625 pupils in 33,981 public primary schools across 20 states. More states are expected to be added to the programme this year. The NHGSFP plans to implement feeding in a total of 28 States, while it aims to link farmers to school feeding markets. In the same vein, several milestones were recorded by the Buhari administration’s National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in 2017, in line with its inclusive growth plan, which includes tackling poverty and hunger, and creating jobs for Nigerians.          The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has called on Nigerians to eschew corruption of all manners as it remains the bane of all woes bedeviling the country. He made the call on Friday, February 2, 2018 while playing host to a group called Movement against Corruption/ Women Arise for Change Initiative at the EFCC Office Wuse II, Abuja. Magu urged the group to take upon itself the zeal to fight corruption stressing that, "It is a duty that must be done". In charging Nigerians to take ownership of the fight against corruption, Magu challenged individuals as stakeholders in the fight not to shy away from fighting the hydra-headed monster. LAGOS REVS UP ECONOMY WITH NEW POWER & PROPERTY LAWS+TO DELIVER 3,000MW IN THREE YEARS.

      The Lagos State Government has perfected plans to bring about a quantum leap to the State's economy in 2018 through the Embedded Power Supply Project and the review of the Land Use Charge Law. The power project, aimed at delivering an estimated 3,000 Megawatts to homes and industries, is expected to lift the economy of Lagos which is Nigeria's industrial hub, while the revised Land Use Charge Law had been designed to improve the values of property in the State. The State's House of Assembly had last week announced the passage of two bills expected to provide the legal framework for the programmes by enacting the Lagos State Embedded Power Supply Law 2018 and the Lagos State Land Use Charge Law 2018. Both laws are expected to be signed this week by the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
