 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

LASG ORDERS CLOSURE OF CHRISLAND SCHOOL    The Lagos State Ministry of Education has ordered the temporary closure of Chrisland School, Opebi-Ikeja, following the reported death of a student of the School, Whytney Adeyemi.    A release signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo said the closure was ordered pending the outcome of a full investigation into the unfortunate incident.     Mrs. Adefisayo, on behalf of the State Ministry of Education, commiserated with Mr. and Mrs. Adeyemi, parents of Whytney, and prayed for the repose of her soul.    “We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends and acquaintance of Whytney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident”, the Commissioner stated.  One more photo below.

 Panic as another oil spill occurs in Ogoniland 12 February 2023  A new oil spill has occurred in Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Council of Rivers State. Some eyewitnesses and community-based sources disclosed that the spill occurred on Friday night, February 10, with the spill point yet to be clamped as of the time this report was filed. According to community sources, the spill is suspected to have been caused by equipment failure. The Executive Director of Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, in a statement, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, recalled that the affected Ebubu Community was in court with Shell Petroleum Development Company for about 32 years till 2021 when the company was compelled by the court to pay $111m (about N45.9b) in compensation over an oil spill that occurred on the same Shell’s facility in the late 1960s during the Nigeria civil war that lasted between 1967-1970.  Fyneface said that some members of the community leadership alerte

 An Orlando couple was among the more than 20,000 people killed in the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.  Alex and Veronika Ilgin were there visiting family. Alex's best friend said they were found in each other's arms in the rubble by Alex’s brother.  Alex was a mortgage broker and hosted a weekly bible study. Veronika was a nurse at Orlando Health.  The two married in July and were planning to start a family. Alex's friend ‘Billy’ Poulos reflected on the tragedy, saying "I think we are so caught up in the day-to-day we forget how fragile life is. We have contacted the Police to establish the cause of this unfortunate exit through autopsy- Chrisland Schools speaks on the sudden death of its student during its inter-house sports Authorities of the Chrisland school have released a statement over the sudden demise of 12-year-old Whitney Adeniran, a student of the school who allegedly slumped and died during the school's inter-house sports at the Agege stadium in Lagos state on February 9. Whitney's mum released a video on Saturday in which she accused the school authorities of hiding the cause of her daughter's death. In a statement released today, February 12, the school authorities asked for prayers for the family of the deceased. The school authorities mentioned that after the incident, all regulatory institutions especially the Police were contacted to establish the cause of this unfortunate exit through autopsy.
