 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE'S BOOK ''AMERICANAH'' WON A CONTEST IN NEW YORK.

                The book ''Americanah'' by Nigerian famous writer Chimanmanda Ngozi-Adichie just won the ''One Book,One New York''campaign by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and BuzzFeed.The office said today monday that New Yorkers cast their ballots for the book throughout February and said they wanted millions of residents to read it.It stated that the voting which took place in February,were both online and at Interactive digital kiossks on subway platforms.The office added that ''finally,Americanah was the book most New Yorkers wanted to read,as 50,000 voters who participated in the #OneBookNY campaign voted for it''.It explained that New Yorkers were encouraged to form their own book clubs and discussions around the book,which detailed the story of a Nigerian couple that left military-rule Nigeria.The office said Americanah centred around two young Nigerian lovers who departed for different cities in the Western ww

A DOCTOR COMMITTED SUICIDE YESTERDAY BY JUMPING OFF THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE.{PHOTOS}

                                         Yesterday sunday,a Medical Doctor identified as Dr Orji committed suicide by jumping off Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon after he received a phone call.It was gathered that the doctor,who was driven by his driver had ordered him to park his Pathfinder Nissan Sports Uitility Vehicle {SUV} marked LND476EE on the bridge,before taking over the steering.The deceased who was said to be returning from church,had taken back the car keys from the driver at Adeniji Adele,drove a few metres and then parked before jumping into the lagoon.As at 7p.m,operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad {RRS} and the Marine Police Unit were still battling to rescue him.Already,the police have deployed boats and drones in the search and rescue mission.Confirming the incident,the General Manager,Lagos State Emergency Management Agency {LASEMA},Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu,said proper investigation would be conducted on the incident by the appropriate authorities.He s
