 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. The Gombe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mohammed Bello Mu’azu, has warned men to confirm the HIV status of their side girlfriends, commonly referred to as ‘side chics’. Mu'azu gave the warning while disclosing the arrest of an 85-year-old man, who was said to have lured an uncountable number of young girls into sex and after medical examination, he and his four wives were confirmed to be HIV positive. Leadership reports that Mu’azu warned members of the public against illicit sexual relationships or ensure they confirm the status of their sex mates before engaging in any sexual relationship. Two million workers to lose jobs in 2024 – ILO About two million workers in the world may lose their jobs in 2024, as the global unemployment rate will be up from 5.1 per cent in 2023 to 5.2 per cent, the International Labour Organisation, ILO, has projected. The ILO stated that joblessness and the jobs gap had fallen below pre-pandemic levels, but global unemployment would rise in 2024. This was disclosed in its latest report titled: “World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2024”. According to the report, growing inequalities and stagnant productivity were causes for concern, saying that the global unemployment rate has dropped in three consecutive years, declining from 6.9 per cent in 2019 to 5.1 per cent in 2023. See his first tweet below, The sad news raised questions about the cause of her death, and he revealed that she died from period cramps. According to him, whenever she is on her monthly cycle, she suffers severe abdominal pains. The lady, Kay Borleis was running the Hawaiian Ultra Running Team’s Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run on the Honolulu Mauka trails in Oahu in January 2019 when she had the scary encounter. Thus the decision of the Court of Appeal affirming the decision of the tribunal ought to be set aside,” Justice Okoro says.  “What is the effect of a ballot paper not having the marks by the Electoral commission?” “A ballot paper that does not bear INEC mark is not invalid by all purposes,” Justice Okoro the requires that it must be proven that a ballot paper was not the ones deployed for the conduct of the election. “Finally, the lower court wrongly misconstrued its evaluation of the ballot papers. FG To restructure World bank funded women project Federal Government has initiated a restructuring process for the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP) a World Bank funded project. The Minister of Women Affairs Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye stated this in Abuja at a stakeholders meeting aimed at amplifying the programme reach. Mrs. Kennedy-Ohanenye explained that the government’s intention to bolster the existing program, which has successfully empowered women at the grassroots level, is aimed to elevate women’s productivity. “We are here to find a way forward to enhance whatever has been done before so that it will suit what the new government wants. We cannot change what is already working well, so all we need is enhance and expand it to work better. Bandits Abduct university lecturer in Zamfara Bandits have kidnapped a director, Bello Janbako, of the Centre for Research, Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State. Janbako, who is also a senior lecturer at the university’s Department of Islamic Studies, was kidnapped at his residence in Damba Gusau, the state capital on Wednesday. A resident of the area, Nasamu Garba said the bandits broke into Janbako’s residence around 2 a.m. on Wednesday and took away. Garba said security personnel engaged the bandits in a gun duel in a bid to foil the abduction but the still made away with him. NCDC Warns Of Potential Cerebrospinal Meningitis Outbreak Due to the prevailing weather conditions in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has released a public health advisory concerning cerebrospinal meningitis. Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) is an acute inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. This disease becomes epidemic under certain circumstances, such as the dry season marked by dust, winds, cold nights, and a higher frequency of upper respiratory tract infections. These environmental factors, coupled with crowding and inadequate ventilation, increase the risk of infection.
